Graduation thesis "A study on introductions in Vietnamese and American culture" will compare and contrast cross-cultural communication between Vietnamese and American cultures in introduction. As East and West cultures differ, there are interesting differences in their untroduction. Through this research, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of introductions in a variety of contexts, as will the English learner.

Drosophilais a powerful model system to study the regula-tory and effector mechanisms of innate immunity. To iden-tify molecules induced in the course of viral infection in this insect, we have developed a model based on intrathoracic injection of the picorna-like DrosophilaCvirus(DCV).We have used MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry to compare the hemolymph of DCV infected flies and control flies. By contrast with the strong humoral response triggered by injectionof bacteriaor fungal spores, we have identifiedonly one molecule induced in the hemolymph of virus infected flies....

Spatial organizationofwild-type (strainU1) tobaccomosaic virus (TMV) and of the temperature-sensitive TMV ts21–66 mutant was compared by tritium planigraphy. The ts21–66 mutant contains two substitutions in the coat protein (Ile21fiThr and Asp66fiGly) and, in contrast withU1, induces a hypersensitive response (formation of necroses) on the leaves of plants bearing a host resistance geneN¢(for example Nicotiana sylvestris); TMV U1 induces systemic infection (mosaic) on the leaves of such plants.

In this article we compared the metabolism of phosphorylated and unphosphorylated oligosaccharides (cellodextrins and maltodextrins) in Fibrobacter succinogenes S85 resting cells incubated with the following substrates: glucose; cellobiose; a mixture of glucose and cellobiose; and cellulose. Intracellular and extracellular media were analysed by 1 H-NMR and by TLC. The first important finding is that no cellodextrins were found to accumulate in the extracellular media of cells, regardless of the substrate; this contrasts to what is generally reported in the literature....

Chicken metallothionein (ckMT) is the paradigm for the study of metallo-thioneins (MTs) in the Aves class of vertebrates. Available literature data depictckMTas a one-copy gene, encoding an MT protein highly similar to mammalian MT1. In contrast, the MT system in mammals consists of a four-member family exhibiting functional differentiation.

The paper by S. Boronatet al. [1] contains errors on page 3331. The corrected sentence and corrected Figure 6 appear below: By contrast, the rainbow trout liver (RTL) cell line showed an EC50 for BNF of 6.1 ± 3.7 nm. These values increased to 53.4 ± 31.2 nmwhen the dose–response curve was performed in the presence of 200lmcarbaryl, indicating an antagonistic effect in these cells similar to the one observed for the yeast YCM-RYA system (Fig. 6; compare with Fig. 3).
