The purpose of this study was to investigate canal configuration of mandibular first premolars in an Egyptian population. Two hundred fifty human extracted mandibular first premolars were collected from Egyptian patients and a small hole in the center of the occlusal surface of each tooth was made perforating the roof of the pulp chamber. Teeth were decalcified by immersing in nitric acid and dehydrated in ascending concentrations of ethyl alcohol.

During social interaction, people regularly present themselves while simultaneously reading the presentations of others. Depending on one’s personality, an individual will adjust aspects of their presentation according to the reactions and presentations of those around them. Fundamentally, social interaction is a negotiation between individuals performing within a particular social context to convey aspects of their identity.

This paper presents a plan-based model that handles negotiation subdialogues by inferring both the communicative actions that people pursue when speaking and the beliefs underlying these actions. We contend that recognizing the complex discourse actions pursued in negotiation subdialogues (e.g., expressing doubt) requires both a multistrength belief model and a process model that combines different knowledge sources in a unified framework.

Every corner on a track has a maximum speed or limit at which it can be driven. Your ability to find the limits of your car and yourself will determine the speed at which you will be able to negotiate each turn. We will always be able to go fastest with our foot to the floor and the steering wheel pointed straight ahead. But, as we approach a turn and start turning the steering wheel, we slow down even if we have our foot to the floor! By turning, we have created a sideways load on...

In what ways has Islamic law discriminated against women and privileged men? What rights and power have been accorded to Muslim women, and how have they used the legal system to enhance their social and economic position? In an analysis of Islamic law through the prism of gender, Judith E. Tucker tackles these complex questions relating to thepositionofwomeninIslamicsociety, and to the ways in which the legal system shaped the family, property rights, space, and sexuality, from classical and medieval times to the present.

If the initial target is set as a result of competitive tendering, then the employer may feel some assurance that he is obtaining ‘value for money’. But if the target is negotiated or later has to be varied, then the employer may feel that the contractor’s knowledge of his intended methods and costs may enable him to add a margin in the target estimate to safeguard his position. This means that it is improbable that the target cost will ever be lower than the contractor’s privately estimated bottom line price....

However, this model is complicated by the fact that conflicts often occur in mixed-motive relationships where the involved parties both have cooperative and competitive goals and Mitchell’s model seems to have neglected this pluralistic/multifaceted/more complex dimension to the relationship. The competitive element creates conflict and the cooperative element creates incentives to negotiate an agreement. There are, however, studies that confirm that conflicts tend to occur even when the involved parties have highly compatible goals.

The rules are also flexible for communicating effectively with customers who are blind or have low vision. For example, a restaurant can put its menu on an audio cassette or a waiter can read it to a patron. A sales clerk can find items and read their labels. In more complex transactions where a significant amount of printed information is involved, providing alternate formats will be necessary, unless doing so is an undue burden. For example, when a client who is blind visits his real estate agent to negotiate the sale of a house, all relevant...

The compensation or return theoretically due to or actually gained by a country’s citizens when a country’s resources such as oil or forests are exploited for export has always depended on complex social institutions, property rights and power relations. In an era of increasing trade, investment and financial liberalisation, the relationship between the exploitation of resources and the accrual of benefits to poor citizens is even more difficult.

Traditionally supply chain management has meant factories, assembly lines, warehouses, transportation vehicles, and time sheets. Modern supply chain management is a highly complex, multidimensional problem set with virtually endless number of variables for optimization. An Internet enabled supply chain may have just-in-time delivery, precise inventory visibility, and up-to-the-minute distribution-tracking capabilities.

I have known Michael Donaldson since our days in law school together. We share fundamental values about our human community, and I agree about how honest negotiation can help us realize those values. Now that I’ve reviewed the final text, it is gratifyingly obvious that this is not merely a book about techniques. It is not a book about cheap tricks. As far as I know, it is the only book on negotiating that begins with creating a personal or business mission statement that explores and then incorporates your values and beliefs.

Although there are many how-to books on negotiating, they provide little useful guidance on how to conduct complex realworld negotiations. Advice on conducting two-party negotiations about a modest number of issues isn’t hard to come by, but few negotiations are that simple. While dealing with the other side, negotiators typically also have to manage difficult internal negotiations, work to prevent disputes from escalating, and build supportive coalitions.

Entitites or computer programs that learn from their environment and can act based on what they have learned can be defined as intelligent agents. These agents can be as simple as triggering an alarm in case of a fire or as complex as human beings. Intelligent agents and their applications to solve real-world problems are getting smarter and diversified day by day.

The major producers were developing new products that utilized digital copying technology as opposed to light/lens technology. Some analysts expected that market growth in the nineties would be driven by "smart" multifunction devices that combined copying, faxing, scanning, and electronic printing functions. Competitors with direct sales forces would have an advantage because the complexity and pricing of these machines was too high for effective dealer distribution. Color copying represented another potential growth area.
