  • The previous studies on technical efficiency (TE) of the soft drinks industry in Malaysia are still under consideration from other industries and existing studies discuss the industry in general. In fact, there is a previous study using industry-level data and does not consider the determinants of technical inefficiency determining the TE level. The purpose of this study is to identify the technical efficiency level and the technical inefficiency of the soft drinks manufacturing industry in Malaysia by 2015 using cross-section data of 118 firms obtained from the Department of Statistics (DOS).

  • This study investigates students’ expectations and experiences of blended learning at Hanoi Open University, Vietnam. In recent years, the Vietnamese government has produced a number of polices advocating the use of ICT in education, including blended learning, aligning this implementation with its goals to modernise. While there has been considerable research around blended learning in higher education in the west, including in the USA, UK and Australia, research in Vietnam is relatively new.

  • The research was conducted retrospectively from a case study of an AQF Level 6 Textile, Clothing and Footwear Training Package Program at RMIT University TAFE. An Action Research approach underpins the investigation, resulting in the profiling of teaching, learning and assessment as areas in need of further examination. These defining themes are explored in the context of the Project Based Learning model developed at RMIT, with consideration given to the potential for broader application. The discussion concludes with a theoretical review of the new understandings of pedagogy.

  • The main aim of this study is to investigate utilising root-like architectures to improve the interfacial strength of pin-integrated hybrid composite-metal structures. Joints are critical elements in aircraft structures and require special consideration due to their vital role in the structural integrity of airframes. Although bonded and bolted systems are used commonly in engineering applications, pinning technologies have shown tremendous potential for hybrid joints.

  • This research reviews the current knowledge and contributes to research efforts of rail track degradation models. The main focus is to understand the behaviour of each model, taking into consideration the variables and factors. This research presents models to predict the tram track degradation of Melbourne network based on its influencing factors. It improves decision-making on degradation models in order to optimise and prioritise maintenance practices and minimise track defects.

  • The aim of this thesis is investigate and design a small antenna which can be embedded onto a Polyethylene substrate (used for making roof tiles). The antenna can be used to harvest ambient energy by connecting it to a rectifier. Due to the dimensional constraints of a roof tile as well as the materials used, there are limitations imposed on the antenna size, and thus the radiation efficiency and bandwidth often become a limiting factor in the overall performance of the system.

  • The initial objective of this project was to improve Boards of Education in Indonesia, especially in terms of their selection, recruitment, performance and contribution to educational development. However, after doing preliminary study and field visits, I realized that the initial objective was far too ambitious. It quickly became evident that there was considerable confusion about District Boards of Education and a lack of basic information about how they should contribute to educational decision making.

  • Several studies have been carried out by optimising only the cost. They have not considered some other risk factors such as political and economic factors in their modelling. Currently, there is no generalised model available to determine the optimal sourcing locations incorporating important factors including risks in international LNG trading. In this study, 12 risk factors were taken into consideration to evaluate the risk.
