We produced and characterized copper(II)-chitosan complexes fabricated via in-situ precipitation as antibioticfree antibacterial biomaterials. Copper was bound to chitosan from a dilute acetic acid solution of chitosan and copper(II) chloride exploiting the ability of the polysaccharide to chelate metal ions.

Feline calicivirus (FCV) is a common and highly prevalent pathogen causing upper respiratory diseases in kittens and felines in recent years. Due to the substantial genetic variability of the viral genes, existing vaccines cannot provide complete protection. Therefore, research on FCV antiviral drugs has received much attention.

This study reports, for the first time, the fabrication of electrospun Cu 2 ZnSnS 4 (CZTS) nanofibers using metal acetate precursors. Viscous poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) solution containing acetate or chloride salts of copper, zinc, and tin was electrospun onto a conductive substrate. The PVP nanofibers that have a mixture of metal salts were annealed at elevated temperatures. After calcination, these nanofibers were treated with the sulfur source and then annealed again in order to generate CZTS nanofibers.

Very small concentrations of a dimeric C,N-palladacycle were used as an efficient homogeneous catalyst for Sonogashira cross-coupling reactions between various aryl halides and phenylacetylene. The catalytic reactions were performed without the need for copper in DMF/H2O. This catalytic system shows excellent yields for aryl iodides and bromides and even in the case of aryl chlorides.

A highly dispersible and magnetically recoverable Cu-PEI@Fe 3 O4 MNPs catalyst was prepared and successfully applied in one-pot three-component coupling of terminal alkynes, sodium azide, and alkyl bromides/chlorides in water to give 1,4-disubstituted 1,2,3-triazoles with good to excellent yields. The catalyst was fully characterized with FT-IR, TGA, TEM, SEM, VSM, EDX, cyclic voltammetry, and ICP-AES spectroscopic techniques.

The aqua-bis(ethylenediamine)-chloro-copper(II) chloride complex, [Cu(en)2(H2O)(Cl)]Cl (1), was synthesized by direct interaction of CuCl2 ×2H2O with pepa (pepa is a polyethylenepolyamine containing ethylenediamine (en)). The crystalline complex 1 was characterized by IR spectra and structurally studied. Crystals of this complex consist of the [Cu(en)2(H2O)(Cl)]+ discrete cations, whose Cu2+ ion is chelated by two en molecules.

The presented work demonstrates the preparation of copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) via aqueous leaves extract of Ziziphus mauritiana L. (Zm) using hydrazine as a reducing agent. Various parameters such as volume of extract, concentration of hydrazine hydrate, concentration of copper chloride, and pH of the solution were optimized to obtain Ziziphus mauritiana L. leaves extract derived copper nanoparticles (Zm-CuNPs).

Study carried out of this disease over a period of time revealed that Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn affects the yield severely whenever it occurs at any stage of the crop. In spite chemical measures like copper oxy chloride is recommended based on the previous studies on Rhizoctonia spp., the new fungicides need to be evaluated to find out the effective and economic fungitoxicants with which the disease can be controlled. Keeping in mind the seriousness of the disease, it was planned to elucidate the biocontrol and fungicidal capacity as soil and seed treatment against the pathogen, R.

The present work deals with the dyeing of mulberry silk yarns with Artocarpus lacucha to develop variety of harmonizing natural shades using copper sulphate, ferrous sulphate and stannous chloride as mordants. The dyes were extracted in acid, alkaline and neutal medium and dyeing was performed at 70°C. The extent of dyeing was studied on the basis of dye uptake as well as K/S values. Highest dye intensity was obtained when alkaline medium was used for dye extraction. The mordant enhances the fastness properties.

The efficacy of some fungicides like carbendazim 12 % + mancozeb 63 % WP, difenoconazole 25 EC, propiconazole 25 EC along with commonly used fungicides viz., mancozeb 75 WP, propineb 70 WP, copper-oxy-chloride 50 % WP and one botanical Azadirachta indica (neem) leaf extract (20%) were tested against early blight of tomato cv. Abhinav at Agricultural Research Station, Ladol, Gujarat. A variant with no application of fungicide was used as a control. All fungicide treatments reduce the disease intensity as compared to untreated check.

Rice is one of the important cereal crop and known to be affected by many diseases. Bacterial leaf blight of rice is a destructive disease of rice, known to be caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae and it also be reported to cause by species of Pantoea. BLB diseased samples were collected from southern districts of Tamil Nadu and upon isolation, the pathogen was thought to be Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae. But, the results of biochemical and molecular characterization revealed that the causal agent was not Xanthomonas, but a new species of bacterium Pantoea stewartii subsp.

Alternaria leaf blight of sunflower caused by Alternaria helianthi is an important disease of sunflower. The study conducted on in vitro evaluation of new molecules of fungicides and plant extracts against Alternaria helianthi, causal agent of Alternaria blight of sunflower. In vitro evaluation of fungicides revealed that, among four systemic fungicides hexaconazole and propiconazole were highly effective in inhibiting the mycelial growth with 100% inhibition among non systemic fungicides the maximum inhibition of mycelial growth was found in captan (86.

The cytogenetic effects of copper chloride on root tip cells of Helianthus annuus were investigated. Seeds were treated with 10, 25, 50 and 100 mg/L (ppm) of copper chloride for 24 h. It was found that copper chloride has a marked mitodepressive action on mitosis. Mitotic abnormalities were increased and the mitotic index was decreased depending on the concentration of the copper chloride applied.

The cathodic reduction of nitrate and nitrite ions on a copper electrode in aqueous potassium chloride solutions was studied using cyclic voltammetry technique. The cyclic voltammograms showed that nitrate and nitrite ion reduction occurred in the 0.14 M KCl solution with peak potentials of -1.25 to -1.30 V and -1.20 to -1.25 V (Ag/AgCl) respectively.

Many of the inorganic and aesthetic constituents evaluated in the Guidelines are known to be essential for life. Chromium, copper, fluoride, iodine, manganese, molybdenum, and selenium are essential elements in human nutrition; arsenic and nickel are considered by some researchers as essential elements. Of the aesthetic constituents, iron, chloride, calcium and magnesium (hardness), sodium and zinc are essential elements.

The unfolding process of the Blue Copper Protein (BCP) rusticyanin (Rc) has been studied using a wide variety of biochemical techniques. Fluorescence and CD spectroscop-ies reveal that the copper ion plays an essential role in sta-bilizing the protein and that the oxidized form is more efficient than the reducedspecies in this respect. Theaddition of guanidinium chloride to Rc samples produces aggrega-tion of the protein. Gel filtration chromatography and glutaraldehyde cross-linking experiments confirm the for-mation of such aggregates. ...
