Correction of errors

This research has raised the question of whether the vibration transmission at a wall junction depends on how the wall is excited (by either a sound wave or a mechanical shaker). The aim of this research is to investigate this question and hence contribute to the revision of the series of standards. Villot and Guigou-Carter (2000) have considered this problem but their equations (10) and (13) appear to be in error. This research will endeavour to derive the correct equations and r epeat Villot and Guigou Carter’s calculations.

This study examines teachers’ attitudes towards the correction of spoken errors through one-to-one interviews and a belief questionnaire. It also investigates the relationship between those standpoints and their teaching practice in classroom context and accordingly suggests more effective ways to deal with students’ spoken errors. For convenience, the two terms “error” and “mistake” are used interchangeably in this study.

Correct application of the classical factorial F-test depends on normality and homogeneity of variance assumptions. If these assumptions are violated the type I error rate will be inflated and power of the test will be decreased. We develop an analogue for sphere packing of the linear programming bounds for error-correcting codes, and use it to prove upper bounds for the density of sphere packings, which are the best bounds known at least for dimensions 4 through 36.
