The cultivated tetraploid cotton species (AD genomes) was originated from two ancestral diploid species (A and D genomes). While the ancestral Agenome species produce spinnable fibers, the D- genome species do not. Cotton fibers are unicellular trichomes originating from seed coat epidermal cells, and currently there is an immense interest in understanding the process of fiber initiation and development.

Cotton has been cultivated and used to make fabrics for at least 7000 years. Two allotetraploid species of great commercial importance, Gossypium hirsutum and Gossypium barbadense, were domesticated after polyploidization and are cultivated worldwide. Although the overall genetic diversity between these two cultivated species has been studied with limited accessions, their population structure and genetic variations remain largely unknown.

Dirigent (DIR) proteins mediate regioselectivity and stereoselectivity during lignan biosynthesis and are also involved in lignin, gossypol and pterocarpan biosynthesis. This gene family plays a vital role in enhancing stress resistance and in secondary cell-wall development, but systematical understanding is lacking in cotton.

Cotton stem trichomes and seed fibers are each single celled structures formed by protrusions of epidermal cells, and were found sharing the overlapping molecular mechanism. Compared with fibers, cotton stem trichomes are more easily observed, but the molecular mechanisms underlying their development are still poorly understood.

A field experiment was conducted at Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute, Tiruchirapalli during winter season of 2019 to study the effect of subsurface drip irrigation- fertigation regimes on stalk yield, seed cotton yield and economics of high density cotton cultivation in sodic soil. The experiment was laid out in factorial randomized block design with three replications.

The trails were conducted on cash crops i.e. sugarcane and cotton. In cotton integrated weed control and in sugarcane Sustainable Sugarcane Initiative (SSI) technology was popularized among farmers. Horticultural crops covered under study were onion and pomegranate. In the same way in onion crop to reduce the cost of cultivation integrated weed management and in pomegranate to protect the fruits from sun scorching PP Non woven bag technology was demonstrated at farmer’s field.

Cotton is one of the most commercial crops of the world and in the maintaining of many economics. Cotton is cultivated in nearly 100 countries with China, India, United States, Pakistan and Brazil being the five largest producers of cotton. Cotton is the back born of textile industry and provides raw material in the form of lint to the textile industry. A field experiment was conducted, with hirsutum cotton genotype H-1300 during Kharif season 2015 at the Oil Seed Farm of C.S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur.

Maximum yield is achieved at optimum plant density which depends upon environmental condition, cropping system and cultivar (Bridge et al., 1973; El-Shinnawy and Ghaly, 1985; Halemani and Hallikeri, 2002). However, farmers are adopting various plant geometries with wider row spacings as well as closer plant spacings. As Bt cotton cultivation has resulted in early setting of bolls, ultimately it requires more nutrients. The present study was carried out to know the effect of spacing and fertility levels growth and yield of Bt cotton.

This is because the incidence and spread of a single virus disease may be dependent on several vectors which have complicated ecologies themselves (Bos, 1986). Whitefly (Bamasia tabaci) transmitted cotton leaf curl virus disease was the major problem in cotton cultivation (Sharma et al., 2006). However, weather has a very crucial role in CLCuD spread and development and also affects its vector whitefly’s ecology.

The experiment was conducted during rainy season of the year 2018 at M.S. Swaminathan School of Agriculture, Centurion University of Technology and Management, Paralakhemundi, Odisha. This study attempted to investigate the potential of growing spinach using different hydroponics systems. For the cultivation of leafy vegetables, two different Hydroponic structures were designed like A-Frame hydroponics system and elevated trays hydroponics system. Three different types of growing media were used i.e. sawdust, coco peat and sterilized absorbent cotton.

Studies on the genetic basis for resistance to jassid (Amrasca biguttula biguttula) was done in F2 segregating generation of one promising cross of interspecific cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L. X Gossypium barbadense L.) in the year 2015-16. The cross FQT-37 X SB-YF-425 segregated in the ratio of 13:3 for susceptibility and resistant. In the case of resistant type, all the plants were in grade II, implying moderate resistance. This gene action is called as inhibitory gene action.
