  • The purpose of this research is to assess the flavonoid content and antioxidant ability of various cardamom fruit extracts (ethanol and ethyl acetate), particularly those of 4 indigenous Indonesian accessions, and to evaluate the correlation between the antioxidant activity performed by CUPRAC and DPPH assays and the flavonoid contents. The results will provide valuable information for future studies and use cardamom for commercial purposes in a plant breeding program.

The antioxidant potential of fruit jam was determined by three methods based on different mechanisms (DPPH ABTS and CUPRAC assays) in six samples treated with ultrasonic waves and ultraviolet light.

  • Calendula officinalis L. is a commercially important plant that finds application in the treatment of various diseases in traditional medicine. The total antioxidant capacity, radical scavenging activity, and total phenolic content of marigold extracts were investigated by Folin, CUPRAC, and DPPH assays, respectively. The optimum operating conditions of microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) including temperature, extraction time, solvent-to-solid ratio, and solvent concentration were ascertained by employing response surface methodology (RSM).

  • In this study, hydroxy benzoin (1-7), benzil (8-14), and benzoin/benzil-O-β-D-glucosides (15-25) were synthesized to investigate their biological activities. An efficient method for synthesizing hydroxy benzoin compounds (1-7) was prepared from four different benzaldehydes using an ultrasonic bath. Then, antioxidant (FRAP, CUPRAC, and DPPH), antimicrobial (3 Gram (-), 4/6 Gram (+), one tuberculosis and one fungus), and enzyme inhibition (acetylcholinesterase, butyrylcholine esterase, tyrosinase, α-amylase, and α- glucosidase) for the all synthesized compounds (1-25) were evaluated.

  • Six nickel(II) complexes of the N2 O2 chelating thiosemicarbazones were synthesized using N1-4-benzyloxysalicylidene-Smethyl/propyl thiosemicarbazone and methoxy-substitute-salicylaldehydes in the presence of Ni(II) ion by template reaction. The structures of thiosemicarbazones and nickel(II) complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, UV-Vis, IR, and 1H-NMR spectroscopies. The structure of the N1-4-benzyloxysalicylidene-S-propyl thiosemicarbazone (2) was determined by X-ray single-crystal diffraction method.

  • The potential of antioxidants in our diet has attained the major focus now-adays. Grape often termed as ‘Super food of the future’ has been a crop of choice to analyse for various its nutraceuticals. In the present study, the antioxidant activity in terms of CUPRAC was determined for 11 grape hybrids along with their 9 parents. The highest antioxidant activity was exhibited by the genotype ‘Hy.16/2A R1P19’ and among parents, it was found maximum in ‘Beauty Seedless’.
