The VLSP 2021 is the eighth annual international workshop whose campaign was organized at the University of Information Technology, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (UIT-VNU-HCM). This was the first time we organized the Speaker Verification shared task with two subtasks SV-T1 and SV-T2. SV-T1 focuses on the development of SV models with limited data, and SV-T2 focuses on testing the capability and the robustness of SV systems.

With the advent of large scale biological data collection for various diseases, data analysis pipelines and workflows need to be established to build frameworks for integrative analysis. Here the authors present a pipeline for identifying disease specific gene-drug interactions using CNV (Copy Number Variation) and clinical data from the TCGA (The Cancer Genome Atlas) project.

Odyssey: A semi-automated pipeline for phasing, imputation, and analysis of genome-wide genetic data
Genome imputation, admixture resolution and genome-wide association analyses are timely and computationally intensive processes with many composite and requisite steps. Analysis time increases further when building and installing the run programs required for these analyses.

A typical task in bioinformatics consists of identifying which features are associated with a target outcome of interest and building a predictive model. Automated machine learning (AutoML) systems such as the Tree-based Pipeline Optimization Tool (TPOT) constitute an appealing approach to this end.

The use of fibre optic sensors in structural health monitoring has rapidly accelerated in recent years. By embedding fibre optic sensors in structures (e.g. buildings, bridges and pipelines) it is possible to obtain real time data on structural changes such as stress or strain. Engineers use monitoring data to detect deviations from a structure’s original design performance in order to optimise the operation, repair and maintenance of a structure over time.
