Effects of long term storage factors on nutritional value of conserved barley accessions in Ethiopia
Ethiopia is one of the world centers of genetic diversity and origin of barley crop. Now a day the country is conserve many cereal crops under cold room storage, gene bank. One of the conserved crops is barley. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of long term storage factors on nutritional value of barley that tested in 1993 and compare the results with nutritional value of barley that tested after 25 years (2018).

Transcriptome profiling of porcine testis tissue reveals genes related to sperm hyperactive motility
The aim of this study was to use RNA sequencing to investigate gene expression differences in testis tissue from Landrace and Duroc boars with high and low levels of sperm hyperactive motility. Boars with divergent phenotypes were selected based on their sperm hyperactivity values at the day of ejaculation (day 0) (contrasts (i) and (ii) for Landrace and Duroc, respectively) and on their change in hyperactivity between day 0 and after 96 h liquid storage at 18 °C (contrast (iii)).

Because of fast leucocyte degeneration in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) laboratory examinations of CSF samples should be performed approximately within 30 min after withdrawal. This study examines the storage of canine and feline CSF samples in “TransFix®/EDTA CSF Sample Storage Tubes” (Cytomark, Buckingham, UK) for preventing leucocytes from degeneration, so that routine and flow cytometry examinations are feasible up to 3 days after sampling.

In this study, sweetened black and green tea were utilized as substrate for kombucha fermentation. Linden, lemon balm, sage, echinacea, mint, and cinnamon infusions were added to kombucha to design a novel beverage with improved functional and organoleptic characteristics. After fermentation, the antioxidant capacity (AC) of the kombucha increased by 13.96% 2,2-diphenyl-1- picryl-hydrazyl-hydrate (DPPH), 48.90% ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP), and 55.54% cupric reducing AC (CUPRAC).

In this study, the effects of 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) treatment on the antioxidant enzymes and fruit quality parameters of baby squash (Cucurbita pepo L., cv. Soleil F1 and İskender F1 ) during cold storage was investigated. After being freshly harvested, the İskender F1 (green-skinned) and Soleil F1 (yellow-skinned) baby squash were treated with 250 and 500 ppb concentrations of 1-MCP and stored at 10 °C for 14 days.

The objective of this work was to assess microbiological quality of fourth-range salads sold in supermarkets in the City of Abidjan during the storage period at 4°C after opening the packages. Our study focused on 4 types of salads, Spinach, Lamb’s lettuce, Lamb’s lettuce and Arugula and Young shoots (lettuce, arugula, spinach, red chard, bull's blood) bought in Abidjan’s supermarkets. We proceeded to an enumeration of mesophilic and psychrophilic aerobic bacteria as well as yeasts and molds by an interval of 3 days.

The study revealed a significant increase in acidity and reducing sugars. There was a significant decrease in antioxidant activity, HMF concentration, pH, total sugars, ascorbic acid content and overall acceptability of the beverage. The beverage showed an increased microbial count making the beverage unacceptable after six days of storage.

This paper presents some results associated with physicochemical changes of fresh duck eggs after being preserved by chitosan membranes at different concentrations. Chitosan coating at the concentration of 1.5% worked best for preserving fresh duck eggs at normal temperature. The number of total Coliforms after 30 days was 30 Coliforms/100 g sample. There was no detection of the existence of Salmonella in eggs of experimental samples.

An experiment was conducted in 2017 to study the seed quality of pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo L.) variety Punjab Samrat as aff ected by stage of fruit harvest and post harvest storage duration and to see their effect on longevity of the seed. Fruits were harvested 25, 35 and 45 days after anthesis (DAA) which were stored for 0, 10, 20 and 30 days after each date of harvesting (DAH). These seeds were stored in cloth bags under ambient conditions for 9 months.

The goal is to pump 15 m3/day of water to cover the student services building needs. The test after installation showed that the pumping flow rate of 0.2 L/sec has been achieved; this result shows that the designed and manufactured wind pumping system can pump more than the record which allows storage of water.

Five red fleshed guava varieties viz., Arka Kiran, Lalit, H-17-16, Punjab Pink and Arka Rashmi were evaluated for their processing potential. The processed products viz., squash, RTS and Jelly were prepared from these 5 varieties and assessed for their quality during storage. The squash prepared from fruits of Punjab Pink retained maximum ascorbic acid (58.3 mg/100g) even after 90 days of storage (DAS). The RTS prepared from fruits of Arka Rashmi at 30 and 90 DAS retained maximum ascorbic acid (34.33 and 26.75 mg/100g).

Storage at 4ºC with 95% RH was evaluated as the best condition to maintain the shelf life of gerbera flowers of different varieties. Flower buds were packed in plastic bag and immersed in water, and then stored at ambient and also inside cold room of Ecofrost. Post storage life of gerbera decreased with increase in storage duration. The cold room stored flowers had shown post dry storage life 2.5 hours in ambient condition, even after taken out after 13 days of cold storage.

Guava fruits of cv. Lalit were treated with salicylic acid (SA) and 5-sulfosalicylic acid (SSA) at 1 mM and 2 mM concentration and stored at 10oC for 12 days. After storage, fruits were transferred to ambient conditions (20±2oC) for 3 days shelf life stimulation period and then observations were recorded up to 12+3 days. Results revealed that fruits treated with SA or SSA at 2 mM concentration showed minimum weight loss and colour change but maintained maximum firmness, total phenolics and ascorbic acid content.

Storage studies of matured green pineapple fruits of cultivar Kew and MD-2 were carried out at ambient condition. The physiological weight loss (PLW) was highest (9.62±0.65%) in MD-2 cultivar whereas the PLW was lowest (9.16±0.31%) in Kew cultivar on 9th day after storage (DAS).

The efficacy of sixteen grain protectants @ 5% was compared against Sitophilus oryzae in storage. Adult weevils were exposed to the paddy, wheat and maize grains treated with the protectants. The mortality was recorded at 1, 2, 7, 14, 21 and 28 days of exposure. Subsequently, all adults were removed and the treated grains remained at the same condition for 56 days. After this interval, the F1 adult female progeny was counted. The protectants caused equally higher insect mortality on paddy and maize grain at 1 day of application.
