Photocatalytic degradation proficiency was studied for bromothymol blue dye. Phytochemicals-coated Nickel Oxide nanoparticles demonstrated antibacterial properties against bacteria (gram negative strain of E. coli, Pseudomonas spp. and gram positive strain of Bacillus spp.) by showing highest zone of inhibition (19 mm, 22 mm, 15 mm).the antioxidant activity of the synthesized nanoparticles were also examined and the result show that the fabricated nanoparticles exhibited significant radical scavenging activity.

The study aimed to isolate oil-degrading bacterial strains from the contaminated soil of Cam Ranh, Khanh Hoa, and develop a robust indigenous bacterial consortium for bioremediation of crude oil pollution. From a total of seven oil-polluted soil samples collected in Cam Ranh, after 3-fold enrichment in liquid mineral salt medium containing 5% crude oil mixed in diesel DO (w/v), 7 bacterial isolates were achieved.

In this study, we evaluated whether bacteria can utilize the prebiotic present in soybean meal and determine the prebiotic index and activity score of the soybean meal by the newly isolated probiotic, Bacillus velezensis BS. The effect of soybean meal-containing medium on the growth, digestive enzyme secretion, and pathogenic resistance of the B. velezensis BS were also examined.

The herbicide propanil has been widely applied in Vietnam and around the world to control weeds. In this study, Acinetobacter baumannii DT isolated from soil was used to determine propanil degradation. Degradation experiments were carried out with condensed cells at 109 CFU/ml with both free and immobilized forms of the bacteria.

This study aimed to evaluate the performance and fermentation characteristics in the rumen of Garut grade sheep fed bitter cassava (M. esculenta Crantz) leaf meal (BCL) supplemented with cyanide-degrading bacteria (CDB). Fifteen sheep (12 mo with average weight of 18.8 ± 1.02 kg) were placed in individual cages provided experimental diets and free access to water.

Edible coatings were produced using whey (30% and 60%) and glycerol. Samples were compared to a control (no coating), during storage at both temperatures. Storage at 10 °C improved the maintenance of the acerola colour, while storage at 5 °C increased the stability of vitamin C and decreased microbial growth (p ≤0.05). The application of edible coating reduced the total colour variation and degradation (a*) at both temperatures. The concentration of whey influenced significantly (p≤0.

This study determines correlation of biofilm-forming bacteria for selected metals, antibiotics and dyes. Total 12 strains having biofilm production potential were targeted in this study. Majority of them were Gram negative excluding MB377 and MB378, and facultative anaerobes. Isolates were mesophilic and exhibited growth capacity over a wide variety of pHs.

Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR-associated proteins (CRISPR/Cas) is an acquired immune system found in bacteria and archaea that can specifically silence or degrade a foreign single or double strand nucleic acid to protect it from infection. In recent years, the CRISPR/Cas9 system has rapidly been evolved into a genome editing technology, in which the Cas9 endonuclease can be targeted to specific DNA sequences by guide RNAs (gRNAs) that are easily programmable.

The highest number is genus Desulfovibrio detected in both examined metagenomes. However, the relationship features of these bacterial groups need deeply investigation for understanding their role of reductive dechlorination, anaerobic degradation in herbicide/dioxin contaminated heavy soil and sediment. These results provide additional evidence to explain why heavy herbicide/dioxin contaminated soil was detoxified successfully at Bien Hoa airbase, Vietnam.

Marine bacteriophages play key roles in the community structure of microorganisms, biogeochemical cycles, and the mediation of genetic diversity through horizontal gene transfer. Recently, traditional isolation methods, complemented by high-throughput sequencing metagenomics technology, have greatly increased our understanding of the diversity of bacteriophages. Oceanospirillum, within the order Oceanospirillales, are important symbiotic marine bacteria associated with hydrocarbon degradation and algal blooms, especially in polar regions.

Pectobacterium parmentieri is a newly established species within the plant pathogenic family Pectobacteriaceae. Bacteria belonging to this species are causative agents of diseases in economically important crops (e.g. potato) in a wide range of different environmental conditions, encountered in Europe, North America, Africa, and New Zealand. Severe disease symptoms result from the activity of P. parmentieri virulence factors, such as plant cell wall degrading enzymes.

Chlamydia are ancient intracellular pathogens with reduced, though strikingly conserved genome. Despite their parasitic lifestyle and isolated intracellular environment, these bacteria managed to avoid accumulation of deleterious mutations leading to subsequent genome degradation characteristic for many parasitic bacteria.

In this study, with the aim of determining and assessing the influence of several culture conditions on the ligninolytic enzyme (LiP, MnP, and Lac) activity of bacteria, five lignin-degrading bacteria strains were isolated from two different soil samples and cultured on minimum salt medium agar containing alkaline lignin (MSML agar). Among the five isolated strains, DL1 and X3 expressed strong and stable ligninase enzyme activity at various temperature levels (30C, 37C, 50C, and 60C) and were selected for further study.
