In this work, we theoretically investigate phase transitions, electronic structures and thermodynamic properties of Mg2X (X ¼ Ge, Si and Sn) under high pressures. To reach this goal, the total energy has been calculated by using the full-potential linearized augmented plane wave (FP-LAPW) method with generalized gradient approximation (GGA), local density approximation (LDA) and EngeleVosko approximation (EV-GGA), which are based on the exchange-correlation energy optimization.

The phenomenon of pH excursion was demonstrated for pH gradient elution of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) on strong cation exchange resins under high overloading conditions. The mAbs differed in molecular structure and isoelectric point, and the resins in matrix structure and ligand density. In all cases, elution of the proteins was accompanied with distortion of the concentration, pH and conductometric profiles.

The fiber/matrix interphase was identified by comparing the tan delta spectra of resin and that of the composite with the Origin software. The results show that the interphase is hydrophilic and has an incomplete crosslinked network.

Knowledge of heat flow density on the Earth’s surface and subsurface temperature distribution is essential for the interpretation of several processes in the crust such as for the evaluation of the geothermal potential of a region. With this study, we investigate the conductive heat flow distribution in western Anatolia to understand the thermal state and its relationship to regional tectonics in the region. The new heat flow data are collected and combined with previously published data to obtain the new heat flow map of western Anatolia.

In this study, a simple size-dependent isogeometric approach for bending analysis of functionally graded (FG) microplates using the modified strain gradient theory (MSGT), simple first-order shear deformation theory (sFSDT) and isogeometric analysis is presented for the first time. The present approach reduces one variable when comparing with the original first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) within five variables and only considers three material length scale parameters (MLSPs) to capture size effects.

Resazurin dye-based colorimetric assay is simple and cost-effective to evaluate viability and cytotoxicity. This dye also used for evaluating proliferative responses of PBMCs against mitogens and antigens especially to assess the CMI response against vaccines and pathogens. However, the assay needs to be optimized for different cell types and animal species. So far, resazurin based assay is not available for sheep and goats. In the present study, the assay was optimized for PBMCs of goat with two density gradients viz., Histopaque 1.077 and 1.083, and different culture conditions.

North Sinai deserts were surveyed for the predominant plant cover and for the culturable bacteria nesting their roots and shoots. Among 43 plant species reported, 13 are perennial (e.g. Fagonia spp., Pancratium spp.) and 30 annuals (e.g. Bromus spp., Erodium spp.). Eleven species possessed rhizo-sheath, e.g. Cyperus capitatus, Panicum turgidum and Trisetaria koelerioides.

The population dynamics of 2 species of Cistus L. (C. salviifolius L. and C. creticus L.) were studied along a post-fire successional gradient in Pinus brutia Ten. forests in Marmaris National Park, Turkey. The population density of Cistus spp. was 16 individual m-2 at the end of the first year after fire and then decreased exponentially (r2 = 0.926, P < 0.001) the second year after fire to later successional stages.

This technique is called the temperature gradient method. The results show that electron density varies from 25.1-189.4 cm-3, corresponding to the tweeks with m = 1-8 at the reflection height from 82.2-86.5 km. The reference height h’ and electron density gradient β are higher during summer seasons as compared to those during winter and equinox seasons. The mean values of h’ and β are 82.5 km and 0.53 km-1, respectively. The electron density using the tweek method is lower by about 11-38 % than those obtained using the IRI2012 model.
