In this paper, the continuous stiffness measurement (CSM) indentation is employed to investigate fatigue mechanical properties of structural steel under cyclic loading. For this purpose, several representative analytical approaches were introduced to estimate the basic mechanical properties including Young’s modulus and indentation hardness from the characteristics of the loading/unloading curves.

This paper addresses the strength and deformation capacity of slender columns retrofitted by externally bonded Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) subjected to seismic loading. The behaviour of RC columns depending on the CFRP confinement (carbon CFRP jacket) and on flexural reinforcement (carbon plates) was analysed by a nonlinear finite element method based on multilayer shell element and multifiber beams with plasticity and damage models.

This study investigated experimental bearing capacity of corroded reinforced concrete beams. Six testing beams were made of concrete having compressive strength of 25 MPa, with the dimensions of 80 x 120 x 1200 mm. They were divided into two groups depending of tension reinforcement ratio.

This work aims at investigating the effect of aleatoric uncertainty of creep rock properties on the stability of an underground structure. This uncertainty relates to the spatial variability of the mechanical parameters representing the time-dependent behavior of geological rock formation due to the change in its mineralogy.

Purpose: Study the existence of inertial manifolds and the asymptotic behavior of solutions to certain classes of evolution equations in an infinite-dimensional Banach space. The evolution equations considered with the linear parts is the generator of a semigroup and the Lipschitz coefficient of the nonlinear term may depend on time and belongs to admissible function spaces which contain wide classes of function spaces like Lp-spaces, the Lorentz spaces Lp,q and many other function spaces occurring in interpolation theory.

This problem was also studied in the presence of both low frequency and high frequency EMW [5]. Moreover, in these works, the dependence of magnetoresistance as well as magnetoconductivity on the relative angle of applied fields has been considered carefully. The behaviors of this effect are much more interesting in low-dimensional systems, especially a two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) system.

It was demonstrated that Poly(p-Xylylene) (PPX) could be prepared from α,α’-Bis(Alkoxy or Aryloxy) –p-Xylenes via chemical vapor decomposition (CVD)- method. This is one-step process and there are side products by the CVD-process. This effect depends both on the CVD- condition and the properties of the starting monomer. The structure and thermal behavior of the material were characterized by FTIR, UVvis spectroscopy, elemental analysis, wide-angle X-ray diffraction, DTA and DSC.

Composite materials show different mechanical properties in different directions which leads to complications in the prediction of their behavior. In addition to being inhomogeneous, behavior of composite materials is highly dependent on the curing process and many studies have tried to address these issues.

Pest control practices in the vegetable crops have been heavily dominated by the routine use of broad-spectrum insecticides to control pests. Concerns have emerged about the adverse consequences of over use of pesticide. These consequences include short and longterm health hazards, contamination and environmental degradation. To minimize the pest losses farmers heavily depend on the chemical pesticides and accessing pest management information from the pesticide dealers due to weak state extension support system.

In this work, isothermal magnetization and initial dc susceptibility of spheroidal, nearly monodisperse Mn0.7Zn0.3Fe2O4 nanoparticles (typical diameter: 20 nm) prepared by a hydrothermal route have been measured between 10 and 300 K. The high-temperature inverse magnetic susceptibility was always found to follow a linearly temperature dependence. The deviation from the standard superparamagnetic behavior is related to dipolar interaction among nanoparticles.

This paper presents an experimental study of adhesive and rheological properties of cement mortars proportioned with various contents of a water-soluble polymer admixture. To determine the adhesive properties the probe tack test was used. The results have been exploited to identify the adhesion strength, the cohesion strength and the support’ adherence force. It is found that the cohesion component displays a minimum when varying the polymer content. The behavior of the adherence force is more complex.

The bioflocculation efficiency was depended on the pH, carbon sources, the initial algae concentrations, bacteria strains, and the inital bioflocculant-producing bacteria concentrations. The temperature lightly affected the bioflocculation, no noticeable behavioral or activity changes were observed in mice that were orally administrated with four bacterial strains, and no treatment-related illness or death occurred after 72 hours.

This research investigates the current white spaces of green marketing and country of origin effects, where new research could contribute theoretical value. The conducted research examines American and Swedish consumers’ environmental awareness, willingness and initiative in contributing to their societies for future sustainability. Using a sample of 118 consumers from an intermediated questionnaire for the offline market, a conceptual framework was developed where the study created the foundation and reasonable support for the purposed framework.

The research part comprised a systematic study of the synthesis and phase separation of Interpenetrating Polymer Network (IPN) gels consisting of crosslinked polyurethane (CPU) and polymethacrylic acid (PMA). CPU was prepared by crosslinking polyaddition between the triblock polyalkylene oxide (ethylene oxide-propylene oxide-ethylene oxide), diisocyanate, crosslinker (triethanolamine) and chain extender (1,4-butanediol). IPN gels based on CPU and PMA were formed by the sequential interpenetrating polymerization (two-stage procedure).

A prefer-ence for the (S)- or (S,S)-enantiomers of styrene oxide, 2-methylstyrene oxide andtrans-stilbene oxide was established, with E-values of 43, 160 and 2.9, respectively.

Oligomeric assemblies of amyloid-b(Ab) are suggested to be central in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease because levels of soluble Abcorrelate much better with the extent of cognitive dysfunctions than do senile plaque counts. Moreover, such Abspecies have been shown to be neurotoxic, to interfere with learned behavior and to inhibit the maintenance of hippo-campal long-term potentiation.

SYSTEM DESIGN AND CONSUMER BEHAVIOR IN ELECTRONIC COMMERCE Hanushek cautions: If the efficiency of our school systems is due to poor incentives for teachers and administrators coupled with poor decisionmaking by consumers, it would be unwise to expect much from programs that seek to strengthen market forces in the selection of schools, (1981, p. 34-35; emphasis added). Moreover, if students outcomes depend importantly on the characteristics of their classmates (i.e.
