In this study, the effect of technological innovation capabilities (R&D capability, technology accumulation capability, technological innovation system) possessed by Korean small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on their competitiveness improvement through innovation performance (product development and process development capabilities) was investigated. As a result of empirical analysis using the questionnaire, it was found that the R&D capability of small and medium-sized manufacturing industries in Korea did not affect product development capability or process development capability.

This thesis adopts an explanatory sequential mixed-approach, incorporating two inter-related studies investigates the resilience capabilities of Hong Kong-based SMEs. Specifically, the overall objective is to empirically examine the multidimensionality of resilience capability, and how each dimension is developed, utilized, and evolved over time and in various contexts. Study 1 involves a survey of 177 Hong Kong-based SMEs and explores the interrelationship between resilience capabilities and firm performance, and the moderating impact of environmental turbulence on these relationships.

The study examines how Small-Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) demonstrate a range of innovation capabilities when they collaborate with a regional university research centre. This collaboration is shown to be important to create and exchange new knowledge to advance the firms innovation performance. Self-Help Group is a small voluntary association of poor people preferably the same socio-economic back drop. The micro- credit given to them to start enterprises and it can be for all women and all men groups. However, it has been the experience that women’s groups perform better in all the important activities of SHGs. SHG is a medium for the development of saving habit among the women. Majority of the respondents (65.00 per cent) had medium level of the knowledge about SHG & its activities. In case of aspect wise knowledge, respondents had highest knowledge about the legal rights.
