The study was conducted to investigate the clinical outcomes and mortality risk factors related to Staphylococcus aureus pneumonia in patients with and without diabetes mellitus (DM). This was a case-control study on 118 patients with S. aureus pneumonia hospitalized between April 2021 and May 2023.

This study aimed to assess lower limb strength and some related factors among older people with dementia examined and treated at the National Geriatric Hospital. Three-quarters of older dementia patients have impaired lower limb strength. Our results highlighted that diabetes, and geriatric syndromes such as malnutrition, high fall risk, dependence, and partial dependence were significantly associated with lower limb strength in older patients with dementia.

Dyslipidemia is one of the popular issues in developed countries and an increasing trend in developing countries. It is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease, hypertension and diabetes. Polyherbal formulations have been used to treat dyslipidemia for many years. This study was designed to evaluate the effects of SAGYDI (SAD) on endogenous dyslipidemia experimental animal model.

Ebook "Prescribing by numbers: Drugs and the definition of disease" highlights the complex historical role of pharmaceuticals in the transformation of disease categories. Greene narrates the expanding definition of the three principal cardiovascular risk factors—hypertension, diabetes, and high cholesterol—each intersecting with the career of a particular pharmaceutical agent.

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified several hundred susceptibility loci for type 2 diabetes (T2D). One critical, but unresolved, issue concerns the extent to which the mechanisms through which these diverse signals influencing T2D predisposition converge on a limited set of biological processes.

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified more than 100 genetic loci associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D). However, the underlying biological mechanisms for many of these associations remain unknown. GWAS signals close to the glucokinase regulatory protein gene (GCKR) have been reported for lipid and glucose metabolism traits and the risk of T2D.

The clinical utility of personal genomic information in identifying individuals at increased risks for dyslipidemia and cardiovascular diseases remains unclear. The PRSs derived and validated here highlight the potential for early genomic screening and personalized risk assessment for cardiovascular disease.

Macular telangiectasia type 2 (MacTel) is a rare, heritable and largely untreatable retinal disorder, often comorbid with diabetes. Genetic risk loci subtend retinal vascular calibre and glycine/serine/threonine metabolism genes.

The human gut harbors trillions of microbes that play dynamic roles in health. While the microbiome contributes to many cardiometabolic traits by modulating host inflammation and metabolism, there is an incomplete understanding regarding the extent that and mechanisms by which individual microbes impact risk and development of cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a worldwide scourge caused by both genetic and environmental risk factors that disproportionately afflicts communities of color. Leveraging existing large-scale genome-wide association studies (GWAS), polygenic risk scores (PRS) have shown promise to complement established clinical risk factors and intervention paradigms, and improve early diagnosis and prevention of T2D.

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) carries a high risk of mortality and hospitalization, especially in patients with comorbid hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus. Little is known about the prognosis of hypertensivediabetic HFpEF in Vietnam. To examine the 12-month mortality, hospitalization, and combined outcome of allcause mortality or heart failure hospitalization in hypertensivediabetic HFpEF patients.

Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a heterogeneous and polygenic disease. Previous studies have leveraged the highly polygenic and pleiotropic nature of T2D variants to partition the heterogeneity of T2D, in order to stratify patient risk and gain mechanistic insight. We expanded on these approaches by performing colocalization across GWAS traits while assessing the causality and directionality of genetic associations.

Population screening for risk of type 1 diabetes (T1D) has been proposed to identify those with islet autoimmunity (presence of islet autoantibodies). As islet autoantibodies can be transient, screening with a genetic risk score has been proposed as an entry into autoantibody testing.
