  • This paper presents a model development of the Dalat Nuclear Research Reactor (DNRR) loaded with low enriched uranium (LEU) fuel using the Serpent 2 Monte Carlo code. The purpose is to prepare the DNRR Serpent 2 model for performing fuel burnup calculations of the DNRR as well as for generating multi-group neutron cross sections to be further used in the kinetics calculations of the DNRR with a 3D reactor kinetics code.

  • The present investigation was carried out in Renewable Energy Laboratory of the Department of Renewable and Bio Energy Engineering, College of Agriculture Engineering & Technology, CCS Haryana Agriculture University, Hisar. Biogas production was recorded for 70 days (ten weeks) in batch type digestion. Anaerobic digestion of fresh cattle dung (CD) and paddy straw (PS) in different ratio was carried out under batch system. Paddy straw was mixed with cattle dung in different percentage 5%, 7%, 15%, 22.5% and one control. Methane content in all the reactors varied between 60-62%.

  • The potential of using anaerobic digestion for the treatment of poultry blood has been evaluated in batch assays at the laboratory scale and in a mesophilic semi-continuous reactor. The biodegradability test performed on residual poultry blood was carried out in spite of high inhibitory levels of acid intermediaries. The use of activated carbon as a way to prevent inhibitory conditions demonstrated the feasibility of attaining anaerobic digestion under extreme ammonium and acid conditions.

  • In this study, the alkaline solutions (NaOH) with concentrations from 1M to 18M, red mud (RM) and silica fume (SF) were used as reactors in geopolymer reactions. RM contains 7.40% SiO2 and 13.65% Al2 O3 and SF has 94.50% SiO2 , but only the active oxides can participate in the geopolymer reactions. The activity of the oxides was investigated by determining the compressive strength of the samples under different curing conditions.

  • The fatigue crack growth behavior of Type 347 (S347) and Type 347N (S347N) stainless steel was evaluated under the operating conditions of a pressurized water reactor (PWR). These two materials showed different fatigue crack growth rates (FCGRs) according to the changes in dissolved oxygen content and frequency. Under the simulated PWR conditions for normal operation, the FCGR of S347N was lower than that of S347 and insensitive to the changes in PWR water conditions.

  • The present simulation results obtained using the two different outflow boundary conditions were discussed through a comparison with the predictions using a simple nonflashing model neglecting the effects of phase change. In addition, the applicability of each of the non-flashing water discharge and saturated water flashing models for the confirmatory assessments of new SG designs was examined.
