Acne vulgaris is an inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous unit, especially in adolescents. There are many classifications of the disease severity, and the role of bacteria in the pathogenesis has been confirmed. This article evaluates the severity of acne through the Global Acne Grading System and Investigator’s Global Assessment, and the presence of bacteria in the pustule.

Hepatitis B infection remains a global health problem, with progression to acute-chronic hepatitis, severe liver failure, and death making hepatitis B one of the most serious infections worldwide. The disease is most widely transmitted from an infected mother to her baby, after exposure to infected blood or body fluids or unsafe sexual contact.

Bacterial infections have a substantial impact on global health and can become serious if misdiagnosed with several diseases related to the central nervous, cardiovascular, and respiratory systems. The prognosis in patients with infectious disease strongly depends on early diagnosis and appropriate antibiotic therapy. We aimed to compare the accuracy of genus and species-level identification bacteria using biochemical testing and 16S rRNA sequence analysis.

The low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is established as a causative agent of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) and lowering plasma LDL-C levels represents the main approach to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events. Statins remain the cornerstone of drug therapy for dyslipidemia.

Acne vulgaris is an inflammatory disease of the pilosebaceous unit, consisting of comedones, papules, pustules, nodules, and cysts. With the complexity of polymorphic nature, acne vulgaris is inherently difficult to assess and the measurement and grading of this condition is a recognized challenge for clinicians. This article presents a comprehensive preview of acne severity assessment according to timelines to give an overview of methods used to measure acne severity.

A pre-clinical sign of atherosclerisis is hypertrophy of arterial wall. Femoral intima-media thickness is noninvasive marker of arterial wall alteration, which can easily be assessed by high resolusion B mode ultrasound. Aims: To investigate the correlation between femoral intima-media thickness and the severity of coronary artery diseases.

Foot rot of tomato is an important disease which causes severe loss in tomato production. The present study was carried out to evaluate five bioagents and six fungicides against Sclerotium rolfsii. Among the five antagonists tested the maximum inhibition was observed in Trichoderma virens (67%) and contrarily, no inhibition was observed in Bacillus subtilis. Six fungicides viz., carbendazim, captan, tebuconozole, copper oxychloride, hexaconozole and Tebuconazole +Trifloxytrobin at different concentrations (50, 100, 150, 200, 250 and 500 ppm), were tested.

A field experiment was conducted at Boodamanahalli village, (Bangalore rural district) to know the effect of tikka disease, caused together by Cercospora arachidicola and Cercosporidium personatum on biochemical parameters viz., total sugars, total phenols and total proteins as influenced by different sowing dates in groundnut. It included two varieties, TMV-2 a highly susceptible one and GBPD-4 a resistant with nine sowing dates starting from December 2008 to August 2009 at monthly intervals.

Regulator of G protein signaling (RGS) proteins are gatekeepers regulating the cellular responses induced by G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR)-mediated activation of heterotrimeric G proteins. Specifically, RGS proteins determine the magnitude and duration of GPCR signaling by acting as a GTPase-activating protein for Gα subunits, an activity facilitated by their semiconserved RGS domain. The R7 subfamily of RGS proteins is distinguished by two unique domains, DEP/DHEX and GGL, which mediate membrane targeting and stability of these proteins.

Eukaryotic ribonuclease (RNase) H2 consists of one catalytic and two accessory subunits. Several single mutations in any one of these subunits of human RNase H2 cause Aicardi–Goutie`res syndrome. To examine whether these mutations affect the complex stability and activity of RNase H2, three mutant proteins of His-tagged Saccharomyces cerevisiaeRNase H2 (Sc-RNase H2*) were constructed. Sc-G42S*, Sc-L52R*, and Sc-K46W* contain single mutations in Sc-Rnh2Ap*, Sc-Rnh2Bp*, and Sc-Rnh2Cp*, respectively....

ZntA, a bacterial zinc-transporting P-type ATPase, is homologous to two human ATPases mutated in Menkes and Wilson diseases. To explore the roles of the bacterial ATPase residues homologous to those involved in the humandiseases, we have introduced several pointmutations into ZntA. The mutants P401L, D628A and P634L corres-pond to the Wilson disease mutations P992L, D1267A and P1273L, respectively.

important regulators of biological processes in animals and plants. MiRNAs regulate gene expression at the posttranscriptional level by binding to mRNAs and either inhibit translation or modify the stability of the mRNA. Due to the important biological role of miRNAs it is of great interest to study their expression level in the cells. Furthermore, miRNAs have been associated with cancer and other diseases [1] and miRNA expression can help in the diagnosis and prognostic of human disease [2,3].

Human acid sphingomyelinase (haSMase, EC 3.1.4.12) catalyzes the lysosomal degradation ofsphingomyelin to ceramide and phosphorylcholine. An inherited haSMase deficiency leads toNiemann–Pick disease, a severe sphingo-lipid storage disorder. The enzyme was purified and cloned over 10 years ago. Since then, only a fewstructural properties of haSMase have been elucidated.

Fibrillization ofa-synuclein (a-Syn) is closely associated with the formation of Lewy bodies in neurons and dopamine (DA) is a potent inhibitor for the process, which is implicated in the causative pathogenesis of Parkin-son’s disease (PD). To elucidate any molecular mechanism that may have biological relevance, we tested the inhibitory abilities of DA and several analogs including chemically synthetic and natural polyphenols in vitro.
