Drug carriers

As science and technology has developed, the manner by which drugs can be delivered has grown. Medicines may be taken orally, applied as topical pastes, creams or oils, patches or administered by direct injection to the body. This research explores an alternative method for the delivery of therapeutic compounds to the body. The basis of the study involves the application of traditional medicinal compounds used to cure minor neck and back pains through transdermal topical application, using a textile substrate as the carrier.

Nano-cellulose 3D-networks (NA3D) could be produced by Acetobacter xylinum (A. xylinum) living in the fermented aqueous green tea extract. NA3Ds include nano fibers forming networks, which are capable of drug loading to form a prolonged release therapy to improve drug bioavailability.

Porous metal organic framework nanoscale carriers as a potential platform for drug delivery and imaging, In the domain of health, one important challenge is the efficient delivery of drugs in the body using non-toxic nanocarriers. Most of the existing carrier materials show poor drug loading and or rapid release of the proportion of the drug that is simply adsorbed at the external surface of the nanocarrier.

In this communication, we report the synthesis of chitosan (CS, a biodegradable and biocom- patible natural polymer) [1] nanoparticles as drug carriers by ionic gelation. The method is based on ionic interactions between positively charged groups NH3 + of CS (in dilute CH3COOH solution) and negatively charged of sodium tripolyphos- phate, TPP).

The synthesis and characterization of chitosan (CS) nanoparticles used as drug carrier was reported. The formation of nanoparticles, taking place in an aqueous phase without using auxiliary toxic substances via the ionic interaction between NH3 + protonated group of CS and phosphate group of sodium tripolyphosphate (TPP) was monitored in situ by combined UV-vis and pH measurements. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by TGA/DTA, XRD and TEM. The particle size, estimated by TEM, was found around 50 - 70 nm, with a quite uniform size distribution.

Themultidrug/oligosaccharidyl-lipid/polysaccharide(MOP) exporter superfamily (TC #2.A.66)consists of four previ-ously recognized families: (a)the ubiquitous multi-drug and toxin extrusion (MATE)family; (b)the prokaryotic poly-saccharide transporter (PST)family; (c)the eukaryotic oligosaccharidyl-lipid flippase (OLF)family and (d)the bacterial mouse virulence factor family (MVF). Of these four families, onlymembers of the MATE family have been shown to function mechanistically as secondary carriers, and no member of the MVF family has been shown to function as a transporter. ...
