Effect of temperature and duration of pulsing with silver thiosulphate (STS) on the peroxidative changes during vase life period of Cut Rose cv. ‘First Red’

The present investigation dealt with the effect of temperature and duration of pulsing with silver thiosulphate (STS) on the peroxidative changes of cut rose petals during vase life period. From the investigation it was proved that flowers pulsed with 0.4mM STS at 10oC for a short period of 8 hours significantly decreased the catalase and peroxidase activities thereby extending the shelf life of cut roses. The enhanced longevity of cut roses was due to suppressing the formation of peroxides and free radicals in the plant tissue.

Effect of different preservatives on vase-life of cut tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa L.) cv. Calcultta Single

Tuberose (Polianthes tuberosa L.) is a perennial, bulbous flowering plant, belongs to family Amaryllidaceae. The study was conducted at postharvest research laboratory, Department of CIHAB, Palli Siksha Bhavana, Visva-Bharti, Sriniketan, Bolpur during the period of May 2014 to June 2014. Treatment details of experiment consists of T1= Control, T2= Sucrose 2.5%, T3= Sucrose 5%, T4= Citric acid 2.5%, T5= Citric acid 5%, T6= AgNO3 15ppm, T7= AgNO3 30ppm, T8= Sucrose 2.5% + Citric acid 2.5%, T9= Sucrose 2.5% + Citric acid 5%, T10= Sucrose 2.5% + AgNO3 15ppm and T11= Sucrose 5% + AgNO3 25ppm.

An investigation was carried out during 2017-2018 to study the effect of GA3 and biofertilizer on growth and yield of Anthurium (Anthurium andreanum Lindex Ex Andre) in soilless culture in the Experimental Farm, Department of Horticulture, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Assam. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design and replicated 3 times. Data analysis over the period of experiment revealed that the highest plant height (42.78 cm and 40.66 cm), highest number of leaves (9 and 8), highest leaf length (32.26 cm and 29.89 cm), highest leaf breadth (20.23 cm and 19.
