Dwarf cavendish

This study was conducted to estimate genetic relationships among banana clones growing in Turkey via some morphological parameters and two molecular marker systems. In terms of yield parameters such as bunch weight, hand number, fruit weight, and total fruit number, Grand Nain (GN) clone came to the forefront with the highest values. It was followed by Azman (AZ), Dwarf Cavendish (DC), and Erdemli Yerli (EY) clones, respectively.

Shrink wrapping produces a micro atmosphere and retards ripening by limiting the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. Shrink wrapping with an engineered plastic wrap can reduce shrinkage, protect the produce from disease, reduce mechanical damage and provide a good surface for stickon labels.

An investigation was undertaken to analyze the effect of organic manure and its combinations with chemical fertilizers to the leaf nutrient content and total soluble solid (TSS) of physiologically ripen fruits using two local cultivar viz. Maring hei (AB), Meitei hei (AB) and Dwarf Cavendish (AAA) at Horticulture Research Farm, College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Iroisemba, Imphal in Factorial Randomized Block Design with twenty one different treatment combinations.

Eleven banana genotypes viz. Champa (AAB), Budubale (PisangAwak), BCB-3 (AAB), H-531 (Poovan x PisangLilin), BCB-1 (AAB), KBS-8 (Dwarf Cavendish-AAA), Bantal (ABB), BCB-2 (ABB), KovurBontha (Monthan-ABB), ManjeriNendran II (AAB) and NRCB-8 (ABB) were evaluated for the yield and yield attributing parameters like the bunch weight (kg), bunch length (cm), bunch girth (cm), number of hands, total number of fingers, finger length (cm), finger circumference (cm), finger weight (g).

This work was conducted in banana producing area of Bihar during 2016-17 to 2018-19. In Bihar, banana production mainly categorised into two zone viz. Vaishali belt and Koshi belt. Vaishali belt mainly comprise tall group of banana cultivar whereas Kosi belt rich with dwarf Cavendish group of banana cultivars and this dwarf Cavendish group of cultivars were resistant against Panama wilt till 2015.But due to introduction of new race i.e. race 4 strain B2 of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense. Now it become susceptible and produce peculiar symptom of Panama wilt disease.
