This study aimed to describe the results of anti-nuclear antibodies (ANA) and antibodies against double-stranded DNA (anti-dsDNA) tests in patients with SLE and to investigate the association between anti-dsDNA and ANA.

Apoptosis or programmed cell death is an inherent part of the development and homeostasis of multicellular organisms. Dysregulation of apoptosis is implicated in the pathogenesis of diseases such as cancer, neurodegenera-tive diseases and autoimmune disorders. Tumour necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) is able to induce apoptosis by binding death receptor (DR)4 (TRAIL-R1) and DR5 (TRAIL-R2), which makes TRAIL an interesting and promising therapeutic target.

The mechanisms whereby hepatic fibrosis develops in chronic liver diseases remain incompletely defined. Here, we sought to examine whether micro-RNA (miRNA) became dysregulated in dimethylnitrosamine-induced hepatic fibrosis in rats. Our microarray analysis revealed that the miR-34 family was upregulated along with other miRNAs in liver fibrotic tissues. Six miRNAs, such as rno-miR-878, were downregulated.
