"Standard Specification for Electric-Resistance-Welded Steel Pipe" covers two grades of electricresistance-welded steel pipe in NPS 2 to NPS 30 [DN 50 to DN 750] inclusive, with nominal (average) wall thickness up to 0.500 in. [12.70 mm], inclusive, and in nominal sizes NPS 3⁄4 to NPS 5 [DN 20 to DN 125] inclusive with nominal (average) wall thickness 0.083 in. [2.11 mm] to 0.134 in. [3.40 mm], depending on size. Pipe having other dimensions may be furnished provided such pipe complies with all other requirements of this specification.

Magneto-hydro-dynamic generators is a great application to measure the velocity and flow rate for the liquid metal cooled fast breeder reactors because the decrease of working fluid flow caused by the non-uniformity must be immediately identified to initiate reactor processes. In this study, a specific estimation is carried out using the interaction of magnetic field considering the delay of process caused by the eddy current.

To our knowledge, it is the first time that field measurement and high resolution simulation are carried out simultaneously to study the feasibility of using LES for meandering river at field scale. Our results show that the mixing of two upstream branches is dominated by large-scale coherent structures in the confluence region, which promote lateral transfer of momentum.

Dual formulations for finite element magnetostatic and magnetodynamic subproblems are developed to correct the inaccuracies near edges and corners of thin shell magnetic models. Such models replace volume thin regions by surfaces but neglect border effects in the vicinity of their edges and corners, which can cause inaccuracy in solving thin sheel problems.

An iterative sub-problem method for thin shell finite element magnetic models is herein performed to correct the inaccuracies near edges and corners arising from thin shell models (e.g., cover of transformers, thin shells, steel laminations). Volume thin regions are replaced by surfaces but neglect border effects in the vicinity of their edges and corners.

The paper deals with the non-destructive evaluation of the airgap existing between parts in loose metallic assemblies, using the eddy current (EC) method. In this study, the relationship between the variations of the impedance of a ferrite-cored coil sensor and an assembly featuring two aluminum plates is analyzed.

Eddy currents always appear in any conduction regions of all types electrical devices, such as electrical apparatus, the cores of transformers, rotating electrical machines, which are subjected to a time-varying magnetic field variation. This leads to an increase of losses and a descrease of efficiency for electrical devices.

This paper introduces a method for estimating the maximum depth (sub-millimeter) of minor cracks on the surface of aluminum plates used in the aeronautical industry. A set of C-scan eddy current (EC) images, including real and imaginary parts of the impedance, is analyzed to extract suitable features after reducing noise effects, such as background noises and edge noises.

In this paper, the subproblem method with using edge finite elements is proposed for coupling subproblems via several steps to treat and deal with some troubles regarding to electromagnetic problems that gets quite difficulties when directly applying a finite element method. In the strategy subproblem method, it allows a complete problem to define into several subproblems with adapted dimensions. Each subproblem can be solved on its independent domain and mesh without performing in whole domain or mesh. This easily supports meshing and decreases computing time.

In this article, we propose a two-process coupling subproblem technique for improving the errors that overcome thin shell assumptions. This technique is based on the subproblem method to couple SPs in two-processes. The first scenario is an initial problem solved with coils/stranded inductors together with thin region models. The obtained solutions are then considered as volume sources for the second scenario, including actual volume improvements that scope with the thin shell assumptions.

In this paper, we simulated an eddy current sensor coil and investigated its impedance response in different scenarios using Ansys software. The experimental findings were consistent with the simulation results. For operating frequency at 180 kHz, comparison between simulation results and experimental using LCR meter and LDC1000EVM module results, the mean absolute percentage error were about 0.75% and 0.6%, respectively.

Electromagnetic devices are present everywhere in our daily life. In particular, they extremely play an important role in the fields of the electrical system. Therefore, the modeling and analyzing the electromagetic problems become currently a matter of concern and topicality for researchers and designers of electrical devices. This paper introduces a finite element method to compute accurate distributions of leakage and fringing fluxes with air-gap variations, and eddy current losses of the magnetic circuits, that cannot generally be solved by a direct analytic method.
