In this study, high temperature oxidation-resistant NiCr/Al duplex coatings on carbon steel substrate have been fabricated by electrical wire arc-spraying process. The oxidation resistance properties of NiCr/Al duplex coating system have been evaluated at 800 °C during retention times of 1.5, 3.0, 4.5 and 6.0 hours. The morphology and chemical composition of their cross-sectional structures were investigated using scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM/EDS).

The management of the electrical and electronic waste (WEEE) problem in the uncertain environment has a critical effect on the economy and environmental protection of each region. The considered problem can be stated as a fuzzy non-convex optimization problem with linear objective function and a set of linear and non-linear constraints. The original problem is reformulated by using linear relaxation into a fuzzy linear programming problem.

This research was conducted in support of two branches of the EPA ENERGY STAR program, whose overall goal is to reduce, through voluntary market-based means, the amount of carbon dioxide emitted in the U.S. The primary objective was to collect data for the ENERGY STAR Office Equipment program on the after- hours power state of computers, monitors, printers, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and multi-function devices. We also collected data for the ENERGY STAR Commercial Buildings branch on the types and amounts...

Energy harvesting from ambient waste energy for the purpose of running low-powered electronics has emerged during the last decade as an enabling technology for wireless applications. The goal of this technology is to provide remote sources of electric power and/or to recharge storage devices, such as batteries and capacitors. The concept has ecological ramifications in reducing the chemical waste produced by replacing batteries and potential monetary gains by reducing maintenance costs.

This symbol on the product or on its packaging indicates that this product shall not be treated as household waste. Instead it shall be handed over to the applicable collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. By ensuring this product is disposed of correctly, you will help prevent potential negative consequences for the environment and human health, which could otherwise be caused by inappropriate waste handling of this product. The recycling of materials will help to conserve natural resources.

For the review of the WEEE Directive the European Commission (EC) has launched three research studies analysing the impact and implementation of the WEEE Directive and potential changes that might be required. This study is focusing on the total environmental, economic and social impacts of the WEEE Directive. Secondly, it aims at generating options that can improve environmental effectiveness, cost efficiency and simplification of the legal framework. This study aims to complete the information needed for review of the WEEE Directive in 2008.
