Energy needs of Pakistan

The present study has attempted to evaluate and investigate the prospects of nuclear power as a viable alternative in terms of energy security, reliability, and environmental sustainability with the SWOT tool. To further quantify the main drivers and barriers of nuclear energy, a Relative Importance Index (RII) analysis has been done. The results reveal that Pakistan has decades of experience running nuclear power plants satisfactorily. The regulatory framework for nuclear power generation is adequate to expand nuclear power generation.

The study concludes that unawareness is the key determinant that creates and strengthens a sense of irresponsibility in consumer behavior. The academician and practitioners need dire attention to take precautionary measures for developing prominent awareness campaigns and strategic policy guidelines to distort irresponsible human nature by including fearful promotional contents in marketing campaigns.

This paper aims to apply Delphi and SWOT tools as a reference theme that diagnosis the sustainability of current status and future road map to develop coal based power generation in Pakistan. The SWOT analysis is performed on the themes of energy security, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. Within this analytical framework, the coal power generation has been discussed in the context of Pakistan’s energy scenario through categorical analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.

Hence, there is an imperative need to re-engineer Pakistan’s dairy industry; both at farm and processor level. This paper seeks to investigate the tools that could bring about such change. We believe achieving the strategic change outlined in this paper for the dairy industry may prove challenging for at least some sectors.
