The research attempts to detect the presence of gender bias as a social phenomenon through pictures in the new English textbook set for Vietnamese primary schools in order to extract the ideology behind their constructions. To be specific, it 1/ examines how different genders are represented via pictures in the new English textbook set for Vietnamese primary schools, and 2/ finds out whether gendered visual representations illustrate gender bias in this textbook set.

Aims of the study: The goal of this study is to find out how using pictures in teaching influences young learners‟ learning English vocabulary at an English center; the results of the research will suggest practical tips for English teachers in teaching vocabulary to young learners.
