The recycling of plastic waste was one of those aspects. This paper studied the potential of directly reusing plastic bottle caps as bio-carriers in moving bed bioreactors without further waste processing.

In the context of industrialization and modernization, environmental pollution is not a new phenomenon, but still remains the world’s greatest problem. At the same time, green consumption plays an increasingly important role in protecting environment. The study finds out the factors that affect the green consumption behavior of Vietnamese Generation Z by conducting a survey in March, 2021. After that, a research model is applied to test the Generation Z in Vietnam, thereby identifying the factors affecting green consumption in this generation.

Environmental policy must be country‐and polluter‐specific to solve environmental problems faced by a country. A well‐designed environmental policy should reflect the specific needs of a country, considering the country’s level of economic development as well as specific environmental pollutants.

Circular economy contributes to green growth in association with economic restructuring, innovation of growth model towards increasing effectiveness, circular cohesion between businesses and economic sectors, and improvement of competitiveness and resilience of enterprises and supply chains to external shocks. This research uses decomposition analysis and the optimal structure analysis to evaluate the role of change in sectorial structure of gross domestic product in reducing carbon emission intensity in 10 OECD countries during 2010 - 2018. The data are adapted from the environmental account and social matrix account belonging to the database of OECD statistics. The decomposition analysis result shows that changes in GDP structure made the aggregate emission intensity in Denmark, Finland, and Slovak Republic increase, but made the indicator in other countries decrease.

This research article investigates the long-run and short-run elasticities between economic growth, trade openness, and carbon dioxide emission by utilizing the auto-regressive distributed lag (ARDL) bound test technique for Vietnam from 2000 to 2021. The result indicated that in the short run, there does not exist an inverted U-shaped relationship between economic growth and carbon dioxide emission but in the long run, economic growth affects carbon dioxide emissions in the form of a reverse U shape.

The VECM model estimation results show that in the short term, all three factors, namely GDP per capita, foreign direct investment, and trade openness, have an impact on reducing CO2 emissions in Vietnam. Mean while, the results of the Johansen cointegration analysis show that GDP per capita and foreign direct investment have a negative impact on reducing CO2 emissions in the long run.

This article presents an economic and environmental assessment model of using wood pellets instead of coal for thermal power plants in Vietnam, along with recommendations for converting coal-fired power plants in Vietnam to biomass thermal power plants. The results indicate the utilization of wood pellets has the potential to decrease the release of CO2 from thermal power plants in Vietnam.
