Spent pickling liquor containing almost FeCl2 is a considered hazardous waste because of its very high level of acidity and high metal concentration, and the conventional neutralization method regenerates an excessive quantity of sludge that poses a serious problem concerning to the landfill disposal and risk of ground water contamination. Therefore, recovery of spent pickling liquor is necessary.

The results of Monte Carlo simulation were generally in accordance with the detected contamination and risk levels, except for several elements (Cu and Zn) with huge spatial heterogeneity. According to the Monte Carlo simulation, the river sediments could undergo extremely high contamination and high ecological risk of the PTEs in the worst situation

In the present study, to evaluate a microalga’s responses to a macronutrient’s limitation and the excess to a micronutrient, we acclimated the well-distributed freshwater microalga Ankistrodesmus densus to N- or P-limited medium before exposing it to sublethal copper (Cu) concentrations.

This paper provides the calculation of the distribution of the concentrations of complex particles of the Sn(II) - citrate - water system in the solution volume, on the surface of the electrode, and in the diffusion layer for the tin citrate electrolyte containing an excess of the ligand. Based on the calculations for the electrodeposition of tin, an electrolyte containing [SnCit]2− complex at pH 8.0 was chosen.

In this study, the kinetic resolution of (R,S)-2-pentanol via transesterification to achieve S-2-pentanol, a key intermediate required in the synthesis of anti-Alzheimer drugs, was investigated in continuous-flow packed-bed reactors. The effects of residence time, substrate concentration, and operation time of the enzyme were investigated. Under steady state conditions, 50% conversion and enantiomeric excess of the substrate (eeS )>99% were achieved at a residence time of 0.04 min. Productivity of the continuous-flow process (1.

Ferrous iron (Fe) and zinc (Zn) at high concentration in the soil cause heavy metal toxicity and greatly affect rice yield and quality. To improve rice production, understanding the genetic and molecular resistance mechanisms to excess Fe and Zn in rice is essential. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) is an effective way to identify loci and favorable alleles governing Fe and Zn toxicty as well as dissect the genetic relationship between them in a genetically diverse population.

Streptococcus salivarius is an abundant isolate of the human oral microbiota. Since both pH and glucose availability fluctuate frequently in the oral cavity, the goal of this study was to investigate regulation by CodY, a conserved pleiotropic regulator of Gram positive bacteria, in response to these two signals. The chemostat culture system was employed to precisely control the growth parameters, and the transcriptomes of wild-type S. salivarius 57.I and its CodY-null derivative (ΔcodY) grown at pH 7 and 5.5, with limited and excessive glucose supply were determined.

The nutrient uptake processes of K, Mg, and Ca are strongly antagonistic resulting in a deficiency of the depressed nutrient [14]. A deficiency of one element could imply a relative or absolute excess of the others resulting in an imbalance for the plants [3]. A sufficient Ca concentration in soil or nutrient solution is important; however, major cations frequently interfere with Ca uptake [1].

The peeling qualities of tomato by using ohmic heating assisted lye-salt concentrations were investigated. The principle of ohmic heating is dissipation of electrical energy into heat which results in internal energy generation. The other methods of peeling are possess various disadvantages which include use of caustic, high pH, problem of waste disposal, high pressure and energy and excessive use of water with the latter. In this study, ohmic peeling was attempted to potentially address these problems.

Lactation starts with active contraction of the myoepithelial cells surrounding the alveoli, this process is termed milk ejection, or milk let down. These myoepithelial cells contract when stimulated by oxytocin, a hormone released from the neurohypophysis of the pituitary as a result of a neuro-endocrine reflex. The afferent side of the reflex consists of sensory nerves from the mammary glands, particularly the nipples or teats. Afferent information reaches the hypothalamus, which regulates the release of oxytocin from the neurohypophysis.

The accumulation of Cr in soil is a major concern because of its possible phytotoxicity or increased movement of metals into food chain and the potential for surface and ground water contamination. Excessive metal accumulation in contaminated soil can result in decrease in soil microbiological activities, soil fertility and overall soil quality which may lead to reduction in yield.

In present study a reliable data bank of nutrient concentration versus fruit yield was established from survey of litchi orchards grown in lower Himalayas (Uttarakhand, India). By using mean and standard deviation, five foliar diagnostic norms were derived as deficient, low, optimum, high and excess for each nutrient of both fruiting terminals (FT) and non-fruiting terminals (NFT) based on the principle of diagnosis and recommendation integrated system (DRIS).

Excessive intake of fluoride, mainly through drinking water is a serious health hazard affecting humans as well as livestock worldwide. According to previous researches, the South-western region of Punjab is endemic for hydrofluoroisis and the fluoride concentrations beyond the standard level results in dental and skeletal fluorosis. This paper highlights the highest fluoride concentration in drinking water of Mansa and Bathinda districts of Punjab which comes under the South-Western region of Punjab.

Consumption of excessive big quantity of trance-isomers leads to organism dysfunction at cellular level. It is established that trance-isomers metabolized in an organism much more slowly than natural cis-isomers. The work is aimed at research of technologies of reception of firm fats with the minimum maintenance of trance isomerized fat acids. At hydrogenation of vegetable oils there are various collateral reactions, including trance isomerization during which natural cis-isomers of fat acids turn to trance-isomers.

Urea in diets of ruminants has been investigated to substitute expensive animal and vegetable protein sources for more than a century, and has been widely incorporated in diets of ruminants for many years. Urea is also recycled to the fermentative parts of the gastrointestinal (GI) tracts through saliva or direct secretory flux from blood depending upon the dietary situations. Within the GI tracts, urea is hydrolyzed to ammonia by urease enzymes produced by GI microorganisms and subsequent ammonia utilization serves the synthesis of microbial protein.

The activity concentrations were evaluated for possible radiological hazards to the human health. The excess lifetime cancer risks (ELCR) were also estimated, and the average values were recorded as 0.42 ± 0.24 103 , 3.22 ± 1.83 103 , and 3.65 ± 1.85 103 for outdoor, indoor, and total ELCR respectively.

The results of the present study indicated the importance of the Zn nutritional status of plants in improving salt stress tolerance. Possibly, by affecting the structural integrity and controlling the permeability of root cell membranes, adequate Zn nutrition reduces excess uptake of Na by roots in saline conditions.
