Precious Pt metals deposited on reducible CeO2 oxide have been widely used in exhaust gas treatment. However, the high cost of Pt metals is the main barrier that prevents from applying the Pt metals. Therefore, a lot of efforts have been dedicated to reducing the Pt size as small as possible, aiming at maximizing Pt metal utilization efficiency. The smallest ultimate size that Pt metal can be deposited on CeO2 as single atom structures. Furthermore, the supported single Pt atom catalysts enhance catalytic performance and selectivity compared to Pt cluster or Pt particle counterparts.

A numerical study was carried out to investigate the effectiveness of the charge air cooling method on the exhaust gas emission reduction when applied to a four-stroke marine generator diesel engine at full load. This paper presents the possible combinations of advantage factors from PFI and GDI system by applying an airassisted injector on Semi-direct Injection System (SDI). Firstly, an adaptor that uses compressed air to improve the atomization of conventional injector and reduce droplet size is made. Secondly, the modifications of intake port by using vortex plate and the other by closing one intake valve increase swirl ratio of in-cylinder air motions which help to form rich mixture around spark plug and lean mixture at other locations.

This research utilized low cost feedstock of waste beef tallow for biodiesel synthesis and its application in a CI engine. The biodiesel and diesel blends B0, B20, B40, B60, B80 and B100 were used in a stationary tractor diesel engine. Performance and emission parameters brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC), brake thermal efficiency (BTE), exhaust gas temperature (EGT), carbon monoxide (CO), oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and hydrocarbon (HC) were tested at a constant speed of 2000 rpm and varying loads.
