Starch metabolism is known to be an important pathway in the growth and development of plants. This study was conducted to investigate the genome-wide identification and structural analysis of genes encoding uridine diphosphate glucose pyrophosphorylase (UGPase), a key enzyme in starch synthesis in cassava, and to analyze the expression profiles of these genes based on publicly available RNA-seq data.

It is a basic task in high-throughput gene expression profiling studies to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between two phenotypes. RankComp, an algorithm, could analyze the highly stable withinsample relative expression orderings (REOs) of gene pairs in a particular type of human normal tissue that are widely reversed in the cancer condition, thereby detecting DEGs for individual disease samples measured by a particular platform.

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a type of malignant tumor ranking the second in the incidence of primary liver cancer following hepatocellular carcinoma. Both the morbidity and mortality have been increasing in recent years. Small duct type of ICC has potential therapeutic targets. But overall, the prognosis of patients with ICC is usually very poor.

Glioblastoma (GBM) can be divided into subtypes according to their genomic features, includ‑ ing Proneural (PN), Neural (NE), Classical (CL) and Mesenchymal (ME). However, it is a difficult task to unify various genomic expression profiles which were standardized with various procedures from different studies and to manually classify a given GBM sample into a subtype.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the deadliest cancers. Research on HCC so far primarily focused on genes and provided limited information on genomic repeats, which constitute more than half of the human genome and contribute to genomic stability. In line with this, repeat dysregulation was significantly shown to be pathological in various cancers and other diseases. In this study, we aimed to determine the full repeat expression profile of HCC for the first time.

Molecular knowledge regarding the primary esophageal achalasia is essential for the early diagnosis and treatment of this neurodegenerative motility disorder. Therefore, there is a need to find the main microRNAs (miRNAs) contributing to the mechanisms of achalasia. This study was conducted to determine some patterns of deregulated miRNAs in achalasia. This case-control study was performed on 52 patients with achalasia and 50 nonachalasia controls. The miRNA expression profiling was conducted on the esophageal tissue samples using the next-generation sequencing (NGS).

Stevia rebaudiana is a medicinal plant recommended to diabetic or obese patients as an alternative sweetener owing to its low-calorie property. Previous studies have found that the stevioside level is highest at the time of flower bud formation and lowest at the time of preceding and following flower bud formation. Hence, this study aims to identify the genes involved in the flowering of local S.

Understanding of the functions of microRNAs in breast cancer and breast cancer stem cells have been a hope for the development of new molecular targeted therapies. Here, it is aimed to investigate the differences in the expression levels of let-7a, miR10b, miR-21, miR-125b, miR-145, miR-155, miR-200c, miR-221, miR-222 and miR-335, which associated with gene and proteins in MCF-7 (parental) and MCF-7s (Mammosphere/stem cell-enriched population/CD44+/CD24-cells) cells treated with paclitaxel. MCF7s were obtained from parental MCF-7 cells.

Calmodulin (CaM) is an important calcium sensor protein that transduces Ca2+ signals in plant stress signaling pathways. A previous study has revealed that transgenic rice over-expressing the calmodulin gene OsCam1–1 (LOC_Os03g20370) is more tolerant to salt stress than wild type.

Acomputational approach is used to analyse temporal gene expression in the context of metabolic regulation. It is based on the assumption that cells developed optimal adaptation strategies to changing environmental conditions. Time-dependent enzyme profiles are calculatedwhichoptimize the function of a metabolic pathway under the constraint of limited total enzymeamount. For linearmodel pathways it is shown thatwave-like enzyme profiles are optimal for a rapid substrate turnover.

Thyroid hormone has various effects on cell proliferation, growth and apoptosis. To gain more insight into the molecular dynamics caused by thyroid hormone, gene expression in HeLaTRcells that constitutively over-expressed the thyroid hormone receptor (TR) was analyzed. Gene expression profiling of the HeLaTRcells with an oligonucleotide microarray yielded 229 genes whose expression was significantly altered by T3.

Numerous innovations in high-throughput protein production and micro-array surface technologies have enabled the development of addressable formats for proteins ordered at high spatial density. Protein array imple-mentations have largely focused on antibody arrays for high-throughput protein profiling. However, it is also possible to construct arrays of full-length, functional proteins from a library of expression clones.

This report describes an efficient strategy for amplified functional purification of the human H1 receptor after heterologous expression in Sf9 cells. The cDNA encoding a C-terminally histidine-tagged (10xHis) human histamineH1 receptor was used to generate recombinant baculovirus in a Spodoptera frugiperda-derived cell line (IPLB-Sf9). As judged from its ligand affinity profile, functional receptor could be expressed at high levels (30–40 pmol per 10 6 cells).

Intracellular heme concentrations are maintained in part by heme degrada-tion, which is catalyzed by heme oxygenase. Heme oxygenase consists of two structurally related isozymes, HO-1 and HO-2. Recent studies have identified HO-2 as a potential oxygen sensor. To gain further insights into the regulatory role of HO-2 in heme homeostasis, we analyzed the expres-sion profiles of HO-2 and the biochemical consequences of HO-2 knock-down with specific short interfering RNA (siRNA) in human cells.

Over the years, several studies have been performed to analyse plant–patho-gen interactions. Recently, functional genomic strategies, including proteo-mics and transcriptomics, have contributed to the effort of defining gene and protein function and expression profiles. Using these ‘omic’ approaches, pathogenicity- and defence-related genes and proteins expressed during phytopathogen infections have been identified and enor-mous datasets have been accumulated.
