The material’s structure was analyzed through X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The fabricated materials consist of NiTiO3 with a rhombohedral phase structure and CoFe2O4 with a cubic structure. The effect of sintering temperature and dwell time on the phase, microstructure, and ferroelectric properties of the ceramics was examined.

The role of complex surface defect on the magnet at the (110) surface of bismuth sodium titanate (Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3) was discussed based on the first-principles calculation. The first-principle calculations for various types of surface defects exhibited the existence of magnetic moments for selected chemical and position defects.

Multiferroic materials refer to a class of materials which possess the intrinsic coupling of two or more ferroic orders (ferroelectric, ferroelastic, and ferromagnetic). Among them, magnetoelectric materials exhibiting both ferroelectric and ferromagnetic characteristics have received much attention due to their great potential in multifunctional applications such as spintronics, memory, and sensors.

The polarization-electric field (P-E) loops reveal the ferroelectric nature of the BZCT/ZnO composites. The energy storage properties of BZCT/ZnO composite ceramics as a function of different wt. % of ZnO are found to be optimum at 1 wt. % with a recoverable energy density of 2.61 J/cm3 and an efficiency of 74.2%, at an electric field of 282 kV/cm

Despite the important role being played by the oxide charge in ferroelectric memories the origin and distribution of this charge in LN-based heterostructures during the crystallization of LN films are not clear yet. The present work is aimed to investigate how the oxide charge evolves during the crystallization of amorphous LieNbeO films deposited onto Si substrates.

It is observed that the rhombohedral and tetragonal phases co-exist in BCZT-BZ samples sintered at different time periods, except the one sintered for 11 h, where the rhombohedral and pseudocubic phases co-exist. The energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS) revealed the presence of the elements constituting the BCZT-BZ samples.

In the present work, Co impurities were introduced to host NBTO materials through the sol-gel method. Results demonstrated the reduction in the optical band gap of pure and Co-doped NBTO, and that the observed room temperature ferromagnetism in Co-doped NBTO materials originates as an intrinsic phenomenon.

Lead-free ferroelectric Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 materials integrated ferromagnetism and photoluminescence at room temperature. Fe and Sm cations were used as the magnetic and photoluminescence sources for the co-modified host Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 materials. The (Fe, Sm)-modified Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 materials were fabricated by using the sol-gel method. The structure of the samples was studied through X-ray diffraction and Raman scattering, which indicated that a single perovskite structure was successful fabricated.

Among lead-free ferroelectric materials, the Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 (BNT) materials have been paying more attention because they exhibit good ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties, making BNT materials become promising candidates to replace Pb(Zr,Ti)O3. In this work, the lead-free ferroelectric BNT materials were synthesized by sol-gel method. The effect of fabrication parameters on microstructural and optical properties was studied.

The influence of fabricating conditions such as gelization, sintering temperature on crystallinity was studied. The result showed that Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 was in single phase when compenstation amount of Na in gelization is 40 mol%; sintering temperature higher than 800 oC and sintering time is 2 h. The bandgap of Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 which estimated from absorption spectroscopy is in the range of 3.01 - 3.18 eV.

The objective of this book is to acquaint the reader with explosive driven pulsed power devices, theory and applications. This includes those devices that convert the chemical energy stored in high explosives into electrical energy and that use shock waves generated by the explosives to release the energy stored in ferromagnetic or ferroelectric materials in the form of electrical energy. The reader might well ask why one should use explosive driven pulsed power for any application, since it is inherently single shot in nature.
