The present experiment is aimed to evaluate the hepatoprotective effects of purslane (PuE) and fig leaves (FlE) extracts on diclofenac-sodium (DS) induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Adult male rats were pretreated orally with PuE and FlE extracts at a dose of 10ml/kg and 200mg/kg body weight, respectively for 14 days. Co-treatment of DS 16mg/kg body weight was given orally for 7days.

Eriophyoid mites are recognized as the second most economically important group among the Acari following spider mites. The identification of eriopyhoid mites traditionally based on morphological characters. However, the size of these diagnostic structures is very small and this often causes misidentification of species. In this study, we used DNA-based identification for five eriophyoid species collected from the Thrace region of Turkey (Aceria erinea, Rhyncaphytoptus ficifoliae, Eriophyes pyri, Aceria massalongoi, Colomerus vitis collected from Juglans regia L., Ficus carica L.

Fig fruit (Ficus carica) are the rich source of minerals, vitamins, and fiber. The moisture content of the ripen fig fruit is about 86 percent due to its high moisture content the fig fruit is readily prone to the attack of yeast and mould. In this study the fig fruit were cut in to slices and dehydrated by osmotic dehydration process. This process is preferred over others due to it is an energy intensive process with retention of initial fruit characteristics viz., aroma, texture, colour and nutritional composition.
