  • We propose a new monotone finite-difference scheme for the second-order local approximation on a nonuniform grid that approximates the Dirichlet initial boundary value problem (IBVP) for the quasi-linear convection-diffusion equation with unbounded nonlinearity, namely, for the Gamma equation obtained by transformation of the nonlinear Black-Scholes equation into a quasilinear parabolic equation. Using the difference maximum principle, a two-sided estimate and an a priori estimate in the c-norm are obtained for the solution of the difference schemes that approximate this equation.

  • In this paper we construct two families of nonstandard finite difference (NSFD) schemes preserving the essential properties of a computer virus propagation model, such as positivity, boundedness and stability. The first family of NSFD schemes is constructed based on the nonlocal discretization and has first order of accuracy, while the second one is based on the combination of a classical Runge-Kutta method and selection of a nonstandard denominator function and it is of fourth order of accuracy.

  • In this paper, a modified central finite difference scheme for a three-point nonuniform grid is presented for the one-dimensional homogeneous Helmholtz equation using the Bloch wave property. The modified scheme provides highly accurate solutions at the nodes of the nonuniform grid for very small to very large range of wave numbers irrespective of how the grid is adapted throughout the domain.

  • In this paper we consider free convection flow in a vertical thin cylinder of finite height with given external temperature (see Fig. The problem is solved by a finite difference scheme. The calculation result when the height is much bigger than the diameter is compared with asymptotic one. A condition of neglecting the thickness is shown.

  • A Hybrid Spline Difference Method is developed to solve a nonlinear equation of welding problem in ultrasonic welding. It is shown that the method has a computational procedure as simply as the finite difference method. In addition, the proposed method can simplify complexity of the traditional spline method calculation, and increase accuracy of the first and second derivatives of space from O(Tx 2 ) of finite difference method to O(Tx 4 ).

  • In this paper, finite difference schemes are proposed to approximate solutions of stochastic advection-diffusion equations. We used central-difference formula of third-order to approximate spatial derivatives. The stability, consistency and convergence of the scheme are analysed and established.   • Transonic flow is a mixed flow of subsonic and supersonic regions. Because of this mixture, the solution of transonic flow problems is obtained only when solving the differential equations of motion with special treatments for the transition from subsonic region to supersonic region and vice versa. We built codes solving the full potential equation and Euler equations by applying the finite difference method and finite volume method, and also associated with software Fluent to consider the viscous effects.

  • The finite difference method was applied to simulate the morphological processes for a. navigation channeL Mathematical equations were based on the SUTRENCH and PROFILE models proposed by L. C. van Rijn. The difficulties of treatment for bed boundary conditions were overcame flexibly by using the interpolation functions with high accuracy. The results obtained showed that the simulation is very suitable and able to be applied to practice problems.
