In this study, having used graphene additive and three main components, including ammonium polyphosphate acidifying agent, pentaerythritol carbonizing agent, and melamine blowing agent, we successfully research and manufacture a water-based fire retardant coating mixture for pine wood. After being manufactured, the mixture is coated on pine wood samples.

Bisulfate intercalated graphites with different particle sizes were prepared by a chemically oxidative method using natural flaky graphites as raw materials. The morphology and structure of the expandable graphites were confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction patterns, and scanning electron microscope.

In this study, calcite and zeolite minerals, with well-known incombustibility properties, were used together with huntite hydromagnesite as auxiliary minerals to obtain better mechanical properties. In this context, a synergistic effect was created by adding zeolite and calcite to polymer composite systems containing huntite hydromagnesite, and flame retardant polypropylene matrix composites were produced using a twin screw extruder.

This study investigated the effect of graphene content on intumescent coating properties. Intumescent coatings contained Plextol R4152 as a binder, APP-PER-MEL as a flame retardant additive system, TiO2, Al(OH)3 as fillers, and other additive. The fire resistance test and furnace test were conducted. TGA, DSC, and SEM were used to assess the coating and char layers. The water resistance and mechanical properties of the coatings were examined.

Flame retardants (FRs) play an important role as additives which is applied in a wide range of products because they can inhibit ignition to delay the spread of fire. By adding fly ash (a waste of thermal power plants), we have developed an epoxy resin material with good flame retardant properties. Besides, using the fly ash can reduce the consumption of current flame retardants (organic halogen compounds) and thus meet the environmental safety of flame retardant epoxy resin.

To prepare the efficiently flame retardants (FR) for the highly flammable polymers, the novel nitrogen-phosphorus based FRs (P-N FR) (PN-3, PN-4, PN-5, and PN-6) were prepared via phosphorus halides and amine derivatives with 40- 90 % in yields. The appearance of P-N FRs are lightly white solid. All P-N FRs are water-insoluble and show a melting point above 40oC. The success of the synthesis was confirmed by NMR analysis.

The zinc borate nanoparticles (2ZnO.3B2O3.3H2O) were successfully prepared by precipitation reaction in aqueous solutions of borax and zinc sulfate using oleic acid as a surfactant. This study focuses on the improvement in fire performance, and flame retardancy (FR) properties of chopped basalt fiberreinforced acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) composites. For this purpose, different amounts of aluminum diethyl phosphinate (AlPi) compound (5, 10, and 15 wt%) were incorporated in the composites. The FR properties of the composites were examined via limiting oxygen index (LOI), UL-94 standard, and mass loss calorimeter tests.

The synthesis and polymerization of a novel diamine monomer, 1,1-(sulfonylbis (4,1-phenylene)) bis (thiourea) (SPT), with various aromatic dianhydrides were carried out. In addition, the fabrication of poly(thiourea-sulfone-imide)s (PTSIs) with noble thermal properties and flame retardancy was conducted. The structures of SPT and polymers were characterized by FT-IR, 1 H NMR, and 13 C NMR spectroscopy along with elemental analysis. Crystallinity, organosolubility, inherent viscosity, and gel permeation chromatographic measurements were taken as well.

A novel N–P-containing soybean-oil-based fire-retardant plasticizer was synthesized using soybean oil methyl ester, 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide (DOPO), and tris(2-hydroxyethyl) isocyanurate (THEIC). The structure was verified by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometry and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. The aqua-bis(ethylenediamine)-chloro-copper(II) chloride complex, [Cu(en)2(H2O)(Cl)]Cl (1), was synthesized by direct interaction of CuCl2 ×2H2O with pepa (pepa is a polyethylenepolyamine containing ethylenediamine (en)). The crystalline complex 1 was characterized by IR spectra and structurally studied. Crystals of this complex consist of the [Cu(en)2(H2O)(Cl)]+ discrete cations, whose Cu2+ ion is chelated by two en molecules.

Solvent-based polyurethanes and poly(urethane-acrylate)s were synthesized using phosphorus-containing polyester polyols in order to compare the thermal properties of different polymer types. Since the location of the phosphorus group might have vital importance when comparing the thermal properties, phosphorus groups were kept on the pendant chains in poly(urethane-acrylate)s using phosphorus-containing urethane macromonomers while they were kept on the backbone in polyurethanes.

The nucleophilic substitution reaction of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene (N3P3Cl6, trimer) (1) with 4- hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde (2) has been investigated for the first time. 4′ -Oxy-1′ -naphthaldehyde substituted mono- (3), bis- (4), and tris- (5) cyclotriphosphazenes were obtained from the nucleophilic substitution of compound 1 with 2 in a 1:2 molar ratio in the presence of Cs2CO3 in acetone at reflux.

Silylation of epoxidized soybean oil (ESBO) was carried out by epoxy ring opening reaction of methoxy and ethoxy silane compounds. 1H NMR and FTIR spectra confirmed that two novel bio-based polyols, PSiTh and PSiAm, were obtained through the ring opening of epoxy by the mercapto and amino moieties of MPTMS and APTES, respectively. Polyurethanes of these polyols were prepared using 4,4´ - methylene-bis(phenyl isocyanate) (MDI) to incorporate silanol groups into polymer network and were labeled as PUSiTh and PUSiAm, respectively.
