  • The purpose of this project is to enable the prediction of flow behaviour of concentrated slurries in the pipe loop under various laminar flow conditions using the fluid analogue to slurry and to find the suitable rheological model from the literature for the fluid analogue and tailings from the Sunrise dam. The major objective of the project is to develop a fluid analogue which will have similar rheological behaviour to that of the tailings from Sunrise dam so that it can be used as a test material to predict the flow behaviour of tailings in a pipe.

  • The objective of this thesis was to investigate the development of a micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) which can be implanted in the eye to provide continuous monitoring of glaucoma conditions. Current glaucoma monitoring involves taking laboratory based intra ocular pressure (IOP) measurements. The measurement of intraocular fluid flow and IOP parameters related to blockage formation in the eye require to be continuously monitored in Glaucoma.

  • This thesis looks investigates the multi faceted problem of biotechnology valuation in Australia using a multi method approach designed to provide greater insight into the valuation challenges facing the industry and identify key value drivers. The approach incorporates a broad qualitative investigation, complimented by more focused quantitative studies into specific valuation issues surrounding IPO and project valuation.

  • Trade and world economic integration are seen as the impetus for accelerating the well-beings of the domestic Vietnamese communities and international community in the region. However, an understanding of the link between trade and economic integration from the perspective of Vietnam is missing. Empirical studies on Vietnamese trade are in lack to address these determinants (see, Le, 1996; Nguyen, 2010). This thesis identifies the key factors that have driven the impressive growth of Vietnamese exports during the world economic integration process (1986-2010).

  • This study uncovers a wide range of complex transport dynamics in transiently forced aquifers that has profound implications for the understanding and quantification of solute transport in these important groundwater systems. And the results in this thesis predict that complex transport structures and dynamics arise in natural transiently forced aquifers around the world. When such dynamics do arise, it will lead to mixing and reactive transport patterns that are very different from those predicted by conventional Darcy flow models.

  • The current research is undertaken by performing Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations for a 2D aerofoil fitted with a shock control bump at a transonic flow condition. Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes equation coupled with turbulence models is adopted to solve the flowfield. The bump has a conventional geometric feature which consists of a ramp, a crest and a tail, and it has eight variants for which the designed parameters are reasonably specified according to the compressible aerodynamics theory.

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is one of the most popular forms of IT for businesses at present. Deriving from efforts to rationalize lead times and possession stock costs, the 80’s manufacturing resource planning (MRP II) is developed into ERP system considered as the standard that integrates business processes throughout the organization, which in turn enhances operational efficiency (Akkermans, Bogerd, Yücesan, & Van Wassenhove, 2003; Davenport, 1998). Callaway (1999) states that the ERP system promises to achieve benefits in both tangible (e.g.

  • In this project, traffic simulation according to the cellular automaton of the Nagel-Schreckenberg model (1992) with different boundary conditions. The sudden occurrence of traffic jams is successfully realised as well as boundary induced phases and phase transitions are observed in the Asymmetric Simple Exclusion Process. The extension to the Velocity Dependent Randomization model leads to metastabile high flow states and hysteresis of the flow. The impact of speed limits on the probability of the formation of traffic jams is investigated.

  • I present the investigation involving two extensions of the cellular automaton based NagelSchreckenberg model, the Velocity-Dependent-Randomisation (VDR) model, and the two-lane model for symmetric and asymmetric lane changing rule sets. The study of the VDR model outlines a potential method in extending the lifetime of a metastable state and consequently postponing an inevitable traffic jam by orders of magnitude. The two lane model produces a so called "critical" and "sub-critical" flow which combined cause the collapse of flow at a critical density.

  • Once the SRS has been approved, implementation begins. Programming teams have many options: The programmers can simply start building the code and create the objects and user interface elements. Designers can build a user interface prototype to demonstrate to the users, stakeholders and the rest of the team. Any code used to develop the prototype is typically thrown away once the design has been finalized. Pictures, flow charts, data flow diagrams, database design diagrams and other visual tools can be used to determine aspects of the design and architecture.

  • We postulated that combining high-dose simvastatin with bone marrow derived-mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) delivery may give better prognosis in a mouse hindlimb ischemia model. Methods: Mouse hindlimb ischemia model was established by ligating the right femoral artery. Animals were grouped (n = 10) to receive local injection of saline without cells (control and simvastatin groups) or with 5 × 106 MSCs (MSCs group).Animals received either simvastatin (20 mg/kg/d, simvastatin and combination groups) or saline (control and MSCs group) gavages for continual 21 days.

  • Average depth model has a variety of applications in hydraulic engineering, especially in applications that flow depth is much smaller than the width of the flow. In this method the vertical variation is negligible and the hydraulic variables average integrated from channel bed to the surface free for the vertical axis. in equations arising management, pure hydrostatic pressure is assumed that not really valid in the case of flow in the bed is curved and can not be described curvature effects of the bed.
