Ebook "From single molecules to nanoscopically structured materials" principle relied on the defined functionalization of macromolecules and macromolecular assemblies. The basic idea was to chemically encode the building blocks, permitting better control of structure formation. The placement of ionic or hydrogen-bonding groups into well-defined positions, the definition of amphiphilic “patches” and the creation of directed as well as non-directed interactions have led to novel aggregate topologies in solution as well as on surfaces.

Ebook "Polyelectrolyte complexes in the dispersed and solid state I: Principles and theory" is intended to extend the content of this former chapter by bringing together selected state-of-the-art contributions on principles and theory. Progress and new knowledge on theoretical aspects of electrosorption phenomena between PEL and oppositely charged surfaces and of the practically always apparent aggregation and clustering tendency of PEC particles are reviewed.

Ebook "Crystallization modalities in polymer melt processing: Fundamental aspects of structure formation" trial and error dominated. In fact, other apposite subjects as polymer melt rheology or heat transfer, had reached high levels. A great number of books has been devoted to them. Moldifilling of amorphous polymers and the solidification of these polymers by vitrification can nowadays be simulated numerically with a high degree of accuracy.

In this study, a new copolymer, which is a combination of two chemical structure (9,10-di(furan-2-yl)anthracene and 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene was synthesized via electrochemical synthesis methods in the electrolyte medium of 0.1 M TBAPF6 / ACN solution. PEDOT homopolymer was also electrosynthesized for comparator experiments of the polymer formations in the same medium. The characterizations of polymers were achieved with general optical and electrochemical characterization techniques.

The combination of four iso-nicotinate appended tetrathiacalix[4]arene (TCA-1) in 1,2-alternate imposed conformation behaving as neutral tectons with Co(II)Cl2 and Hg(II)Cl2 metallic salts, leads to the formation of neutral, new coordination networks. Indeed, the tetrasubstituted TCA-1 derivative leads to a 1D coordination polymer with Co(II)Cl2 and a 2D grid-like network with, Hg(II)Cl2 . The effect of the nature of the metal used on the dimensionality was demonstrated by X-ray diffraction studies on a single crystal.

New ligand based on p-tertbutyltetrathiacalix[4]arene blocked in 1,3-alternate conformation, was achieved via a multistep synthesis with the introduction of thiomethylpropoxy groups on the lower rim which leads to a neutral tecton. The combination of this p-tertbutyltetrathiacalix[4]arene (p-TCA-2), in 1, 3-alternate imposed conformation, with tetrahedral Ag(I)SbF6 salt, leads to the formation of neutral, new 2-D coordination network, which was structurally investigated in the solid state by X-ray diffraction methods on a single crystal.
