  • This work focuses on the free vibration of the functionally graded porous (FGP) sandwich microplates using the isogeometric approach (IGA). The FGP sandwich plate comprises the homogeneous core and the FG porous face sheets. The material properties of the FGP face sheets are supposed to vary through the thickness direction according to the power-law function and modified rule of a mixture of the volume fraction with three different types of porosity distribution: homogeneous porous, X porous and V porous distributions.

  • In this study, a surrogate model based on artificial neural networks (ANN) will be established to predict the mechanical behaviors of the plastic Primitive TPMS reinforced beams. Finite element analysis (FEA) simulation results of different numbers of reinforcement layers and volume fractions were adopted as the model data, the robust model have been owing to a hyperparameter tuning investigation.

  • A new semi-empirical technic has been established relying on the linkage between the chemistry in the bulk liquid and that taking place in the acoustic cavitation bubble. The open-source COPASI software has been used for the optimization of number density according to the total yield of a single bubble and the fitting of the experimental yield of hydrogen peroxide in the sonicated solution. It was observed that the number density is increased with the rise of ultrasound frequency from 200 to 1140 kHz, independently of the saturating gas nature (O2, Ar or air).

  • Only a small fraction of patients respond to the drug prescribed to treat their disease, which means that most are at risk of unnecessary exposure to side effects through ineffective drugs. This inter-individual variation in drug response is driven by differences in gene interactions caused by each patient’s genetic background, environmental exposures, and the proportions of specific cell types involved in disease.

  • This control structure is inflexible since using fixed gains. For overcoming this weakness, we integrate variable fractional-order derivative into SMC that leads to an adaptive system with adjustable parameters. We use Mittag–Leffler stability, an enhanced version of Lyapunov theory, to analyze the convergence of closed-loop system. Applying the controller to a practical crane shows the efficiency of proposed control approach. The controller works well and keeps the output responses consistent despite the large variation of crane parameters.

  • According to Regulation (EU) No 619/2011, trace amounts of non-authorised genetically modified organisms (GMO) in feed are tolerated within the EU if certain prerequisites are met. Tolerable traces must not exceed the so-called ‘minimum required performance limit’ (MRPL), which was defined according to the mentioned regulation to correspond to 0.1% mass fraction per ingredient.

  • An organism’s protein interactome, or complete network of protein-protein interactions, defines the protein complexes that drive cellular processes. Techniques for studying protein complexes have traditionally applied targeted strategies such as yeast two-hybrid or affinity purification-mass spectrometry to assess protein interactions.

  • In this paper, we consider a general case of FFR in which the users are classified into groups and each group is assigned a serving power level. The mathematical model of the general FFR is presented and analysed through a stochastic geometry approach. The derived analytical results in terms of average coverage probability can covered all the related well-known results in the literature.

  • This work deals with the control design and development of an automated car-following strategy that further increases robustness to vehicle dynamics uncertainties. The control algorithm is applied on a hierarchical architecture where high and low level control layers are designed for gap-control and desired acceleration tracking, respectively. A fractional-order controller is proposed due to its flexible frequency shape, fulfilling more demanding design requirements.

  • The present study provides a generalization of event-based control to the field of fractional calculus, combining the benefits brought by the two approaches into an industrial-suitable control strategy. During recent years, control applications based on fractional order differintegral operators have gained more popularity due to their proven superior performance when compared to classical, integer order, control strategies.

  • In this work, a sliding mode control (SMC) method and a composite learning SMC (CLSMC) method are proposed to solve the synchronization problem of chaotic fractional-order neural networks (FONNs). A sliding mode surface and an adaptive law are constructed to update parameter estimation. The SMC ensures that the synchronization error asymptotically tends to zero under a strict permanent excitation (PE) condition. To reduce its rigor, online recording data together with instantaneous data is used to define a prediction error about the uncertain parameter.

  • The rapidly expanding arsenal of chemotherapeutic agents approved in the past 5 years represents significant progress in the field. However, this poses a challenge for oncologists to choose which drug or combination of drugs is best for any individual. Because only a fraction of patients respond to any drug, efforts have been made to devise strategies to personalize care.
