Accurately quantifying the risk of osteoporotic fracture is important for directing appropriate clinical interventions. While skeletal measures such as heel quantitative speed of sound (SOS) and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry bone mineral density are able to predict the risk of osteoporotic fracture, the utility of such measurements is subject to the availability of equipment and human resources.

Ebook "Biological adhesives" reviews the structure of different biological adhesives and the mechanisms by which they achieve interfacial adhesion, cohesive strength, and fracture toughness. These adhesives include cements, strongly adherent fibrous holdfasts, tough and flexible adhesive gels, energy-dissipating adhesive tapes, nanoparticle-based adhesives, hierarchically structured nanoarray adhesives and a wide variety of viscous, sticky secretions.

The quality of life after rapid bone loss among individuals is one of the key health issues today, which might be due to hormonal factors and lack of proper nutrition that lead to an increased risk of fractures. The experimental data suggested a significant potential of Consciousness Energy Healing based vitamin D3 and DMEM medium on various bone health parameters.

Pregnancy and lactation-associated osteoporosis (PLO) is a disease caused by vertebral compression fracture, and it is characterized by low back pain during pregnancy or the postpartum period. However, it is difficult to predict and prevent PLO prepartum in highrisk groups.

We report a case of a 65-year-old woman who sustained a left neck of femur (NOF) fracture following low-energy trauma. Computed tomography (CT) scan for the neck, chest, abdomen and pelvis was normal apart from enlargement of the right lobe of the thyroid. Interestingly, thyroid function was normal. While waiting for the result of thyroid cytology and bone histology, the patient recovered well from the operation and started to engage well with physiotherapy.

To observe the characteristic fracture and evaluate the relationship between fracture type and alignment of bipolar long stem cemented in the elderly intertrochanteric fracture. Subjects and methods: A total of 79 senile patients (> 60 years) with inter-trochanteric femur fractures due to low energy injuries treated with long stem cemented bipolar hip arthroplasty (BHA) between 2016 and 2021 were evaluated.

Applying nano-silica, as cementitious materials in concrete mixes, is expected to be an improving technique, from both mechanical properties and durability points of view. Th is study aims to analyse the characteristics of fractures in concrete beams incorporating nano - silica in bending tests, such as fracture energy, characteristics of crack length, and crack propagation.

Bone mineral density (BMD) and trabecular bone score (TBS) are moderately correlated. TBS is sometimes used as an adjuvant to BMD in the fracture risk assessment. Some individuals with normal BMD or osteopenia, have more degraded TBS. We aimed to identify factors associated with TBS worse than BMD in the non-osteoporotic elderly population.

Varto and the surrounding region have important geothermal fields, developing in strike-slip tectonic setting in East Anatolia, which resulted from the collision of the Arabian and Eurasian plates. The main structural elements in the area are the NE-trending sinistral and NW-trending dextral strike-slip fault segments and N-S trending extension zones. In order to determine fault-controlled geothermal circulation, it is very important to fully characterize the structural elements in these complex environments.

The numerical wedge splitting tests show that in the case of brittle materials, the lower post-failure stress limit defined in the concrete damaged plasticity model resulted in energy consumption for crack propagation exceeding the defined fracture energy (114% higher in the case of a brittleness number of 4.4).

Spinopelvic dissociation is a transverse sacral fracture in conjunction with a vertical fracture of the sacrum on both sides, which causes the dissociation of the upper sacrum and spine from the pelvis. The most common causes of these fractures are high energy injuries such as falls from height or motor vehicle accidents.

Distal radius fractures (DRF) are often referred to as osteoporosis indicator fractures as their incidence increases from age 45. In the group of young adults, distal radius fractures normally result from high-energy trauma. Wrist fractures in young patients without adequate trauma thus raise suspicion of a pathologic fracture.

Undiagnosed, or diagnosed and untreated osteoporosis (OP) increases the likelihood that falls result in hip fractures, decreased quality of life (QOL), and significant medical expenditures among older adults. We tested whether a tailored dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) test result letter and an accompanying educational bone-health brochure affected patient satisfaction, QOL, or OP knowledge.
