Our previous study demonstrated that the ingestion of fructose with fat exacerbated and delayed postprandial lipid metabolism (J Atheroscler Thromb 2013; 20: 591). Herein, we investigated the effect of ingesting a water-soluble dietary fiber, resistant maltodextrin (RMD), which has been reported to be effective for ameliorating postprandial glycemia and lipidemia, on fructose-induced postprandial hyperlipidemia in healthy young women.

Lilium tsingtauense is an endangered bulb plant in China that has curved leaves and orange flowers. Little is known about the opening of the L. tsingtauense flower. In this paper, the blooming process of L. tsingtauense flowers was sampled in five stages according to characteristic tepal morphology. The center of the tepal has an increasing elongation rate compared with the upper and lower parts.

During the photosynthesis, two isoforms of the fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase (FBPase), the chloroplastidial (cFBP1) and the cytosolic (cyFBP), catalyse the first irreversible step during the conversion of triose phosphates (TP) to starch or sucrose, respectively.

Alkaline/neutral invertase (A/N-INV), an enzyme that hydrolyzes sucrose irreversibly into glucose and fructose, is essential for normal plant growth, development, and stress tolerance. However, the physiological and/or molecular mechanism underpinning the role of A/N-INV in abiotic stress tolerance is poorly understood.

The grape berry is considered a sink for primary key metabolites and relies on the use of available carbohydrates produced by photosynthesis to support its growth and development. The berry size and quality at the time of harvest mainly depends on water, sugars such as glucose, fructose and sucrose, organic acids (mainly malic and tartaric acids), amino acids (arginine, proline and glutamic acid), phenolic compounds (anthocyanins, flavonoids and tannins) and aroma precursor.

Fructose ingestion is often associated with hepatic steatosis and hypertriglyceridemia. The homeostasis of hepatic lipids is mainly determined by the interplay of lipogenesis and fatty acid β-oxidation. In this study, we hypothesized that high fructose intake disturbs hepatic lipid metabolism through an imbalance between these processes.

Fructose 2,6-bisphosphate (Fru-2,6-P2 ) plays an important role in the regulation of major carbohydrate fluxes as both allosteric activator and inhibitor of target enzymes. To examine the role of Fru-2,6-P2in the regulation of hepatic carbohydrate metabolism in vivo,Fru-2,6-P2 levels were elevated in ADM mice with adenovirus-mediated overex-pression of a double mutant bifunctional enzyme, 6-phos-phofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase (n¼6), in comparison to normal control mice (control,n¼6). ...

Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase catalyzes the reversible aldose-ketose isomerization of D-glucose-6-phosphate to D-fructose-6-phosphate in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis, and in the recycling of hexose-6-phosphate in the pentose phosphate pathway. The unicellular protozoans,Trypan-osoma brucei, T. cruziandLeishmaniaspp., of the order Kinetoplastida are important human parasites responsible for African sleeping sickness, Chagas’ disease and leish-maniases, respectively. In these parasites, glycolysis is an important (and in some cases the only) metabolic pathway for ATP supply....
