Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lentis

Fusarium wilt is a soil-borne disease, which negatively affects the lentil crop widespread in India and affecting the lentil crop productivity. So the present study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of bioagents against wilt pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.lentis of lentil crop through antagonistic activity. Rhizospheric strains were isolated from wilt affected lentil plant in different regions of Eastern UP like Faizabad, Mau, Varanasi, Ghazipur. A total of 20 bacterial strains were isolated and tested for antagonistic activity by co-culture m

Field experiments were conducted in Faizabad during 2014-15 and 2015-16 cropping season to evaluate the effect of different control options (seed treatment with Carbendazim, Trichoderma harzianum and intercropping with linseed, alone and in combination) on lentil wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lentis.

Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lentis was isolated from wilt infected lentil plant samples were collected from the field of AICRP on MULLaRP at Agriculture Research Station, Ummedganj, (Kota). In epidemiological studies, mycelium growth and sporulation by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lentis was significantly influenced with media, temperature and pH level. Maximum colony diameter (90.00 mm) recorded on oat meal agar (Hi-media) medium, which was statistically at par with potato dextrose agar (Hi-media) yielded 88.57 mm colony diameter, Both the media support excellently sporulation by pathogen.

Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.), one of the major pulses cultivated and consumed in India, is also known as Masur. It has a high nutritive value and major source of dietary proteins (25%) after soybeans in human and animal diet. Fusarium wilt of lentil caused by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lentis is the most serious disease of lentil.

The present study was carried out in vitro to examine the efficacy of eight different biocontrol agents viz; T. harzianum, T. viride, T. koningii, T. atroviride, T. virens, T. asperellum, T. hamatum, and Pseudomonas fluorescens and eight fungicides viz; thiram, hexaconazole, carbendazim, copper oxychloride, propiconazole, mancozeb, thiophanate methyl and metalaxly against effect of wilt pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f.sp lentis and on the growth promotion of lentil against. The results of the observation revealed that all biocontrol agents and fungicides promote the growth of lentil i.e.

Lentil (Lens culinaris Medik) is an important crop, the major states producing lentil are Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab. Lentil is an important component of farming systems in our country. It is one of the important and most nutritious rabi pulses. Vascular wilt causing by Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lentis, Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. causing collar rot and Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary) causing stem rot, is most destructive soil borne diseases of lentil growing area worldwide. Use of chemicals continues to be major strategy to mitigate the menace of crop disease.

Lentil (Lens culinaris) is affected by the wilt disease caused by fungal pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. lentis at seedling stage and at the later stages of growth. The pathogen is soil and seed borne in nature and reported from all lentil growing areas. The present investigation is on the management of the lentil wilt pathogen by exploiting the resistance mechanism of the host. Ninety two germplasms were screened along with the local check (Sehore) under field conditions during the two consecutive years 2016-17 and 2017-18.

The present study examined the effects of Bacillus pumilus, Pseudomonas alcaligenes, and Rhizobium sp. on wilt disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lentis and on the growth of lentil. Inoculation with F. oxysporum caused significant wilting, and reduced plant growth, the number of pods, and nodulation.
