Pokkah boeng is one of the most serious and devastating diseases of sugarcane and causes significant loss in cane yield and sugar content. Although carbendazim is widely used to prevent fungal diseases, the molecular basis of Fusarium species complex (FSC) resistance to carbendazim remains unknown.

Survey on the Incidence of post flowering stalk rot of maize in Telangana state during kharif – 2019
Maize (Zea mays L.) is one of the important cereal crops of the world and world’s third leading cereal crop, after wheat and rice. Maize is affected by various biotic and abiotic stresses. Among the biotic stresses, fungal diseases are one of the major constraints in realizing the potential yields of this crop. So keeping in view the importance of maize diseases a survey was carried out during kharif-2019...

Maize ear rot caused by F. verticillioides which is prevalent on maize under Punjab conditions. The symptoms appear as white-pink fungal growth and causes “starburst” pattern of white streaks on the kernels. Thirty Fusarium isolates were isolated from the infected maize plant from different agro-chemical zones of Punjab.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate Cu-chitosan NCPs for its antifungal activities against Fusarium verticillioids causing post flowering stalk rot (PFSR) disease of maize. Cu-chitosan NCPs were prepared based on the ionic gelation of chitosan with tripolyphosphate anions and Copper ions having particle size (295.4 nm), polydispersity index (0.28), zeta potential (+ 19.6 mV).Various concentrations of Cu-chitosan NCP was applied in pot and field experiments.

Maize Post flowering stalk rot causing caused by Fusarium verticillioides is major disease and causing yield loss up to 34 per cent. Different liquid media supporting the growth of the different isolates of fungus was observed. Among the eight-liquid media tested for the dry mycelial weight and sporulation of six isolates of Fusarium stalk rot pathogen (F. verticillioides), Isolate FV-3 yielded highest dry mycelial weight of 787.66mg, followed by FV-2 (647.66mg), FV1(581.00mg), FV-5 (451.00mg), FV-6(421.00mg) and FV7(277.66mg) in Takahashii’s broth.

Maize is one of the most important cereal crops with a wide adaptability under varied environmental conditions. Universally, maize is recognized as “queen of cereals” because of its immense genetic yield potential compared to other cereals but due to Fusarium stalk rot, yield loss goes up to 42 per cent. To identify a resistant source in maize for Fusarium stalk rot fifty maize inbred lines were screened. Fourteen inbred lines viz.

This study aimed to evaluate the fungi toxic effect of palmarosa essential oil (Cymbopogon martinii) on mycelial growth of Fusarium verticillioides in vitro and treatment of corn seeds. For the in vitro experiment the essential oil was added to the culture medium and poured into Petri dishes, using seven different oil concentrations (0.0125, 0.025, 0.05, 0.1 and 0.2%), 0.0% was the negative control, and we used Thiram as a positive control. Discs of culture medium with fungal mycelium were inoculated into the center of the plates and incubated for seven days at 27 ± 2°C.

Sources of genetic resistance in maize to Fusarium stalk rot and their variations at molecular level
Identifying the resistant genotypes is one of the vital strategies to control Fusarium stalk rot disease in maize. Fifty accessions of maize germplasm were evaluated for resistance to stalk rot caused by Fusarium verticillioides at the Maize and Millet Research Institute, Yousafwala, Pakistan, during the spring and autumn of 2010.
