Salinity has a significant impact on rice production in coastal, arid and semi-arid areas in many countries, including countries growing temperate rice, such as Kazakhstan. Salinity tolerant temperate japonica rice accessions were identified in this study, these accessions are important resources for breeding programs. SNPs located in the promising QTLs and candidate genes could be used for future gene validation and marker assisted selection.

The purpose of this research is to assess the flavonoid content and antioxidant ability of various cardamom fruit extracts (ethanol and ethyl acetate), particularly those of 4 indigenous Indonesian accessions, and to evaluate the correlation between the antioxidant activity performed by CUPRAC and DPPH assays and the flavonoid contents. The results will provide valuable information for future studies and use cardamom for commercial purposes in a plant breeding program.

Due to the recent domestication of peanut from a single tetraploidization event, relatively little genetic diversity underlies the extensive morphological and agronomic diversity in peanut cultivars today. To broaden the genetic variation in future breeding programs, it is necessary to characterize germplasm accessions for new sources of variation and to leverage the power of genome-wide association studies (GWAS) to discover markers associated with traits of interest.

Characterization of cultivars using bio-chemical markers has been successfully used for selection of improved cultivars in mango for breeding programs. The study was conducted at Horticultural research station, Venkataramannagudem for evaluating the variability of mango cultivars to conserve the elite ones and to identify the superior genotypes based on fruit bio-chemical markers for future crop improvement. Thirty four cultivars were characterized using bio-chemical fruit markers in subsequent years to know the genetic diversity in mango.

Identification of loci for agronomic traits and characterization of their genetic architecture are crucial in marker-assisted selection (MAS). Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have increasingly been used as potent tools in identifying marker-trait associations (MTAs).

Hybrid breeding technology is one of the most feasible options to meet the future food challenges and sustainable agriculture. Large number of cross combinations are attempted and evaluated in hybrid breeding programs, but a few are selected. This is labour intensive, time consuming and costly; despite of it selection efficiency is too low. Therefore, it is important to explore alternate approaches to enhance the selection efficiency to predict hybrid performance. Pedigree data of the parental lines and molecular marker have been effectively employed to predict field performance of hybrids.

Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) Markers were use to determined the genetic variability of eight divers cowpea (Vigna unguiculata L. walp) genotypes from different eco-geographical regions of India. Total primers 40 out of there 35 could be generated DNA fragment were 1479 but were as 1159 showed polymorphic pattern with 78.34 per cent. The polymorphism was scored and used in band sharing analysis to identify genetic relationship between the genotypes.

The present experiment was carried out using twenty-nine elite breeding lines from Station Yield Trial - Slender Grain materials along with three check varieties at the Rice Research Station, O.U.A.T., Bhubaneswar in kharif- 2016. A part of the research was to study the genetic divergence among the breeding lines used in the experiment. The D2 values obtained from the divergence study ranged from 3.36 between OR2675-6-4 and OR2676-2-5 to 2518 between OR2675-2-1 and Samba mahsuri.

The study herein determines the available variability among the unexplored common bean germplasm based on morphological parameters. The collection of one hundred and thirty five genotypes was done and the experimental data for nine phenotypic yield attributing traits was recorded in the experimental field of SKUAST Jammu, Main Campus, Chatha for the two years. The field experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design and the observations were recorded from six randomly selected tagged plants.

Castor (Ricinus communis L.) is a plant that is commercially very important to the world. It is produced in about 30 countries lying in the tropical belt of the world. It is an important plant for production of industrial oil. Assessment of genetic diversity of a crop species is a prerequisite to its improvement; hence it is important to identify the genetic diversity of castor genetic resources for development of improved cultivars.

In the present study, sixty four aromatic landraces of rice collected from different districts of Madhya Pradesh were analysed for genetic variation using SSR markers. Specially, the objective of the study was DNA fingerprinting and genetic diversity analysis of aromatic landraces to requisite to study the unique feature and to identify the duplication among them and to assist in broadening the germplasm base of future aromatic rice breeding programs. Very high variation was observed for the trait sterile lemma colour in the classes of straw (76.56%), purple (10.94%), gold (7.81%) and 4.

Fifty cotton genotypes were investigated for variability and genetic divergence regarding yield related attributes, seed cotton yield and fibre quality traits using principle component analysis. Eleven traits viz., days to flowering, plant height (cm), no of sympodia/plant, no of bolls, boll weight (g/plant), seed cotton yield (kg/ha), Micronnaire value, % Span length, Uniformity ratio, Bundle strength (g/tex) and Elongation ratio were recorded for the germplasm accessions. Maximum variation of about 17.
