The present investigation was carried out to assess the impact of different jute based cropping systems on soil quality in farmers’ fields. Soil samples (georeferenced) were collected at 0-0.2 m depth from the farmers’ fields following the jute based cropping systems for more than five years. Soil quality was evaluated in terms of physico-chemical and biological attributes of soils.

The present study was conducted at the experimental farm of ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna, India in Kharif season 2016 with an objective to identify sheath blight and bacterial leaf blight disease resistance rice genotypes under submergence condition in middle Indo Gangetic Plain. The disease incidence was observed at maturity stages during Kharif season 2016. The incidence of sheath blight and bacterial leaf blight of paddy ranged from 18.6 to 39.0% and 15.3 to 34.0%, respectively.

The present investigation was carried out to estimate phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation, heritability (broad sense), genetic advance and genetic gain for 15 quantitative traits in 21 different genotypes of Garden pea during Rabi2011-12 at Vegetable Research Farm, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (U. P.). Significant differences among the genotypes were observed for all the characters under study.

A field experiment was conducted during rabi season 2011-2012 at Student Instructional Farm (SIF), C.S.A.U.A&T Kanpur. Eight treatments were tested in three replicated Randomized Block Design. Result found that significantly better growth attributes, yield attributes and grain yield (22.75 q/ha) was obtained with combined application of RDF + vermicompost @ 5.0 t/ha over rest of the treatments. The minimum grain yield (19.15 q/ha) was received in treatment RDF(120:60:40:30 Kg/ha NPKS).

Traditional farming has imbalance and excess use of chemicals and, in turn, to negative environmental impacts on soil health, groundwater, and atmosphere. Sensor based farming system should be more sustainable to reach economical and social profitability as well as the sustainable environment. A correct solution is to adopt precision farming, the best option for sustaining food production without declining the ecosystem.

Rice-Wheat cropping system pre-dominated in the India covering an area of about 10.5 million hectare. Adverse effect of continuous puddling in rice field forced scientists to search for other methods of rice establishment like direct seeding; machines transplanted and dry seeding with ZT machine and wheat by zero tillage etc. In a 3‐year study, we assessed the effects of crop establishment methods in participatory mode on farmers’ field through on farm on productivity and profitability in a rice–wheat (RW) system at Basti, Siddharthnagar and Gorakhpur district of U.P.

Foliar blight is a major biotic constraint to wheat in the Gangetic plains of south Asia, particularly in the rice-wheat system. The disease occurs as a complex of spot blotch and tan spot caused by C. sativus and P. tritici-repentis, respectively. Yield losses reach on average 15% but are variable depending on sowing time, years, locations and stress conditions.
