  • In this paper, the complex conductivity including all Landau levels is calculated in a layered superconductor under magnetic field in the vortex liquid phase by using TDGL approach with thermal fluctuations modelled by the Langevin white noise. We obtain an expression summing all Landau levels in an explicit form. The rest of the paper is organized as follows. In section 2, the Lawrence-Donich model in its time dependent form is briefly recalled and the main assumptions are specified.

  • The time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau (TDGL) equation with thermal noise is used to calculate the complex fluctuation conductivity in high-Tc superconductor in three dimensional (3D) model at zero magnetic field. The nonlinear interaction term in the TDGL is treated within self-consistent Gaussian approximation we go beyond the often used lowest Landau level approximation.

  • In general, the fluctuation of the elastic modulus of materials is crucial in structural analysis. This paper develops a stochastic finite element method (SFEM) for analyzing a nonuniform column considering the random process in elastic modulus. This random process of elastic modulus is assumed as a one-dimensional Gaussian random field. The weighted integration method is used to discretize the random field and establish the stochastic finite element formulation to compute the first and second moments of displacement fields.

  • It is well-known that some famous probability density functions (PDF) of random variables are associated with symmetries of these random variables. The Boltzmann and Gaussian PDFs that are invariant under translation and spherical transformations of their variables, respectively, are obvious and well-studied examples reflecting not only symmetries of many physical phenomena but also their underlying conservation laws.

  • Video surveillance is emerging research field of intelligent transport systems. This paper presents some techniques which use machine learning and computer vision in vehicles detection and tracking. Firstly the machine learning approaches using Haar-like features and Ada-Boost algorithm for vehicle detection are presented. Secondly approaches to detect vehicles using the background subtraction method based on Gaussian Mixture Model and to track vehicles using optical flow and multiple Kalman filters were given.

  • In this paper, a model is presented for predicting the transport of an environmental pollutant from the source to and through the soil. The model can predict the deposition of an environmental pollutant on the soil surface due to the pollutant being loaded on dust particles, which are later deposited on the soil surface.

  • The paper addresses the problem of predicting soil organic matter content in an agricultural field using information collected by a low-cost network of mobile, wireless and noisy sensors that can take discrete measurements in the environment. In this context, it is proposed that the spatial phenomenon of organic matter in soil to be monitored is modeled using Gaussian processes.

  • We prove estimates for the Green’s function of the discrete bilaplacian in squares and cubes in two and three dimensions which are optimal except possibly near the corners of the square and the edges and corners of the cube. The main idea is to transfer estimates for the continuous bilaplacian using a new discrete compactness argument and a discrete version of the Caccioppoli (or reverse Poincare) inequality.

  • The Gaussian spin fluctuation theory is applied to study magnetic properties (Curie temperature, magnetization) of EuO ultra-thin films within nearest neighbor and next nearest neighbor exchange approximation. The dependence of Curie temperature on the thickness of the free EuO ultrathin film is calculated and compared with the results of the other mean field methodconstant coupling approximation. The effect of nearly independence of saturation magnetization on the EuO films thickness measured in [8] can be explained by controlling the next nearest neighbor exchange in presence of substrates.

  • In this paper, we present two vector-level software algorithms which essentially eliminate such bit-wise operations for Gaussian normal bases. Our analysis and timing results show that the software implementation of the proposed algorithm is faster than previously reported normal basis multiplication algorithms.

  • This set of notes explores some of the links between occupation times and Gaussian processes. Notably they bring into play certain isomorphism theorems going back to Dynkin [4], [5] as well as certain Poisson point processes of Markovian loops, which originated in physics through thework of Symanzik [26]. More recently such Poisson gases of Markovian loops have reappeared in the context of the “Brownian loop soup” of Lawler andWerner [16] and are related to the so-called “random interlacements”, see Sznitman [27]. In particular they have been extensively investigated by Le Jan [17], [18]...

  • Written by two foremost researchers in the field, this book studies the local times of Markov processes by employing isomorphism theorems that relate them to certain associated Gaussian processes. It builds to this material through self-contained but harmonized 'mini-courses' on the relevant ingredients, which assume only knowledge of measure-theoretic probability. The streamlined selection of topics creates an easy entrance for students and for experts in related fields.

  • The signal processing task is a very critical issue in the majority of new technological inventions and challenges in a variety of applications in both science and engineering fields. Classical signal processing techniques have largely worked with mathematical models that are linear, local, stationary, and Gaussian. They have always favored closed-form tractability over real-world accuracy.
