  • Structural equation modeling (SEM) is an extremely general and powerful approach to account for measurement error and causal pathways when analyzing data, and it has been used in wide range of applied sciences. There are many commercial and freely available software packages for SEM. However, it is difficult to use any of the packages to analyze general pedigree data, and SEM packages for genetics are limited in their application.

  • In some recently experiments with virus, Abstract their core part are DNA tightly packed with very high charge density. The contribution of this highly charged part to the electrical field outside virus now cannot be easily neglected in general case. In this work we propose a simple core-shell model for this type of soft particles and virus.

  • In this paper, dynamic stiffness model of a cracked frame structure that represents a planar tower crane is established in an explicit form based on general solution of cracked 2Dbeam element vibration. The crack is modeled by a pair of equivalent springs of stiffness calculated from the crack depth. An explicit form of frequency equation is first established and then solved for numerical sensitivity analysis of natural frequencies of the structure to cracks. An experimental study is accomplished to validate the theoretical development.

  • This study aims to develop and test the integrative model of the factors affecting customers’ acceptance intention of the adoption of blockchain technology. Data were collected from a sample of 195 customers who have been conducting transactions at Dong A Bank – Hue branch. Samples are selected by using the systematic random sampling method. Structural equation modelling (SEM) is used to test the hypothesized relationships. The findings indicate that six out of eight tested relationships are supported.

  • The study of fluctuations of structures in general and bridge structures in particular under the influence of moving loads considering the impact of vehicle braking forces draws the attention of many scientists. However, due to the complexity of this problem a static method has been so far applied for approximate calculation in bridge design standards. In this article the author introduces the equation of bending vibrations of beam elements according to the model of dynamic interaction between beam elements and moving vehicle loads considering vehicle braking forces.

  • In the previous chapter, the transfer matrix method (TMM) was introduced to solve the coupled wave equations in DFB laser structures. Its efficiency and flexibility in aiding the analysis of DFB semiconductor LDs has been explored theoretically. A general N-sectioned DFB laser model was built which comprised active/passive and corrugated/planar sections. In this chapter, the N-sectioned laser model will be used in the practical design of the DFB laser. The spatial hole burning effect (SHB) [1] has been known to limit the performance of DFB LDs.
