Green gram (Vigna radiate L.)
-
An experiment was conducted during Summer season 2016 to study the “Effect of Plant growth regulators (PGRs) and Micronutrients on flowering and yield parameters of Green Gram (Vigna radiate L.)” on central research farm department of biological science, SHIATS Allahabad. The soil of experimental area falls in order Inceptisol and soil texture was sandy loam. Two varieties of green gram i.e. IPM-0203 and Ganga-8 was used with different concentration of Plant Growth regulators salicylic acid 100, 200 ppm, Brassinolide 0.25, 0.

A screen house experiment was conducted to understand the influence of phosphorus and boron application on yield and enrichment of seed and straw of green gram. Five levels of phosphorus (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 mg kg-1 ) and 4 levels of boron (0, 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 mg kg-1 ) were applied in pots filled up with 4 kg light texture (sand) soil. Eight seeds of green gram were seeded in each pot and replicated thrice. The soil used in pot had pH 7.90, EC 0.17 dSm-1 , organic carbon 0.09%, DTPA Zn 0.36 mg kg-1 and hot water soluble B 0.5 mg kg-1 soil.

Green gram (Vigna radiate L.) is a short day plant and generally requires fairly hot conditions for its optimum growth and yield. Crop growth and development are closely related with energy requirement parameters, such as growing degree days (GDD), photothermal unit (PTU) and Helio-thermal Units (HTU).

The present investigation was carried out with 112 diverse genotypes along with 5 checks of mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] during Kharif season. Data were recorded on various morphological and agronomic characters including hypocotyl pigmentation, days to 50 percent flowering, plant height, number of leaves, number of branches, number of clusters, number of pods per cluster, total number of pods per plant, pod length, pod diameter, pod wall thickness, seed length, seed diameter, 100-seed weight, seed density and seed yield.
