This paper discuss the impact of watershed interventions on bio-physical, hydrological, agricultural and socio-economic indicators. Changes were detected in land use for agriculture crops, water body coverage and area under very good soil moisture. Ground water table and crop productivity were improved. Migration of workers from rural to urban areas was declined.The mean gross income of households was increased. Overall, the watershed interventions provided resilience by ensuring sustainable multiple outputs, besides soil and water conservation.

The state of Jammu and Kashmir, a north temperate region of Indian subcontinent, is a rich source of indigenous germplasm. Owing to the rich biodiversity in terms of sheep, goat, camel, yak and poultry, the livestock activity has a contribution of about 11percent in the Gross Domestic Product of the state. A two years research experiment was conducted during 2014-15 and 2015-16 at upland farm of the ICAR research complex for NEH region, Barapani, Meghalaya. A study indicates that there is increase in area, production and productivity of major food crops in Jammu & Kashmir State of India over the years but the rate of increase has been slow. Jammu region of the State has maximum cropping intensity (176.8%) followed by Kashmir (123%) and Ladakh (106%). The average land holding in the State is very low (0.66 ha) in comparison to National Average (1.68 ha). The unit farm power availability on gross cropped area basis is 0.78 kW contributed 51.2% by animated (human and animal power) sources and 48.8% from rest of the sources.

Agriculture plays a predominant role in Indian economy and contributes 18 per cent to India’s gross domestic product. Farmers have to take series of decisions to make farming a viable enterprise. A study was planned to know the decision making behaviour and its influence on the socio economic performance of farm households. The respondents were chosen from three districts viz. The paper, then, computes a CCI and proposes the most appropriate method corresponding to the Vietnamese setting.
