Healthcare-associated infections are major causes of morbidity and mortality associated with clinical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures in healthcare organizations. Enhancement of hand hygiene practices among healthcare workers is responsible for decreasing 30 to 50% of healthcare-associated infections. However, previous studies have indicated inadequate adherence to hand hygiene procedures in healthcare institutions.

Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are complex conditions that appear in any healthcare facility. They truly become an economic and financial burden for the family and healthcare service system, particularly in developing countries. Nurses directly provide care for patients because they can be the cause of the spread of HAIs in healthcare institutions.
