Negative energy balance (NEB) is an imbalance between energy intake and energy requirements for lactation and body maintenance affecting high-yielding dairy cows and is of considerable economic importance due to its negative impact on fertility and health in dairy herds. It is anticipated that the cow hypothalamus experiences extensive biochemical changes during the early post partum period in an effort to re-establish metabolic homeostasis. However, there is variation in the tolerance to NEB between individual cows.

In this paper, we present the techniques of simulation modelling for quantum dynamics of Kerr nonlinear coupler system which consists of two nonlinear quantum oscillators mutually coupled by continuous nonlinear interaction. We show that by using evolution operator formalism we can model the quantum system and derive the “exact” solution for finding the existence of nonclassical properties in terms of squeezing, antibunching, intermodal entanglement and their higher order counterparts under the effect of dissipation process.

The work was carried out to study the combine carbonization and liquefaction of coconut shell (Cocus nucifera) biomass in order to produce the charcoal and bio crude oil. The characterization was carried out before and after carbonization process in terms of proximate analysis, higher calorific value and bulk density.

The long term field experiment has been in progress since 1986 at GKVK, Bengaluru with finger millet – hybrid maize cropping sequence. Eleven treatments were replicated four times in RCBD. The archived soil samples (1986 – 2016) from this experiment were collected at five years interval and studied for different fractions of sulphur. The fractions of sulphur were in the order of organic>residual>inorganic>water soluble> available forms. All fractions of S showed an increasing trend over 30 years of cropping cycles in all the treatments.

Increasing carbon dioxide (CO2) content in the atmosphere is the prime cause of global warming. Capturing this CO2 by agro-forestry systems through photosynthetic activity could be one of the ways to reduce its concentration in the atmosphere. Therefore, an attempt was undertaken to fix the atmospheric CO2 employing the mulberry plant as the sink considering its carbon sequestration potential.

Increasing concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is a matter of significant concern with respect to the long term impacts on human health and environment. While transport is the greatest contributor of VOCs in ambient air, other sources such as industries and petrol pumps also contribute significantly. The study and analysis of VOCs is important to identify emission sources and impacts. Samples of ambient air were collected and analyzed at three locations in the cities of Mumbai, Nagpur and Pune using an online VOC72M Analyzer.

Currently sugarcane crop yields are low and its area under cultivation is declining due to its high cost of cultivation and continuous reduction in announcing less remunerative prices to the farmers by the policy makers. Of late the area under this crop is continuously declining in Telangana state of India. In order to facilitate the farmers to get lucrative prices and to increase area under this crop, sugarcane yields have to be enhanced more than 250 t/ha.

About 10% of total electricity (386 MkW) was generated by nuclear power plants in the world (2014) and about 58,400 tons of uranium has been mined in uranium mines annually. A plenty of radioactive waste material is produced from uranium mines and nuclear power plants. The wastes must be disposed or stored safely for a long term. Because if they leak and/or move from disposal or storage sites due to air/groundwater flow, then a serious environmental pollution can occur.

Recently, the southern central coast of Vietnam has suffered from severe coastal erosion. In order to cope with these problems, physical understanding of long-term wave characteristics is essentially important as basic engineering information. Accordingly, this study examines the longterm variation of reanalyzed wind waves in duration 1900-2010 at this area based on the ERA-20C reanalysis data set in order to clarify the long-term tendency as well as the seasonal characteristics of wave properties.

In this study, the generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equation describing nonlinear wave propagation in optical fiber with all higher order effects such as higher order dispersion, self-phase modulation and Raman scattering is considered. Using the numerical method, the effects of the terms third order dispersion, Raman scattering on evolution of ultrashort pulses are investigated in detail.

Since the effect of some nonlinear terms is lost during the first order averaging procedure, the higher order stochastic averaging method is developed to predict approximately the response of linear and lightly nonlinear systems subject to weakly external excitation of second order coloured noise random processes.
