In this study, alkyl hydroperoxide reductase (AhpC) from M. bovis was evaluated as a new candidate vaccine antigen against TB in BALB/c mice model. The ahpC gene was amplified from M.bovis genome, cloned, and expressed in Escherichia coli. Vaccine antigen AhpC was formulated with Montanide ISA 61 VG, an oil-based emulsion adjuvant. Both IgG and IL-12 responses were observed in mice after administering the formulation both as a subunit vaccine alone and also as a booster vaccine for BCG immunization.

An effective yellow fever (YF) vaccine has been available since 1937. Nevertheless, questions regarding its use remain poorly understood, such as the ideal dose to confer immunity against the disease, the need for a booster dose, the optimal immunisation schedule for immunocompetent, immunosuppressed, and pediatric populations, among other issues.

Purified viral protein was obtained from Potato virus Y (PVY) pure culture maintained on potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) plants. The average concentration of the purified materials was found to be 153.1 ng/µl. PVY purified virus preparation was used for immunizing rabbit for production of polyclonal antisera against the virus. Good quality antisera were collected one week post boosters (AS4b, AS5b, AS6b and AS7b) and the IgG fractions were separated through ammonium sulphate precipitation.

The growing incidence of infectious diseases, autoimmune problems and tumour formation are due to the weakness/dysfunction of immune system. Many xenobiotic components that enter human system through food, air and food chain interferes with the functioning of cells and secretions that offer immunity. Pesticides that are being indiscriminately applied get into the human system had been reported to affect the functioning of immune system.

Pertussis specific antibodies were studied with respect to quality and quantity in a cohort of apparently healthy Egyptian children and adolescents, with their age range between 1 and 18 years, in an attempt to get a close and clear insight into the current humoral immunization status in this specified group and to try find a relation between the antibody levels and their avidities in eradication of this devastating infectious disease.
