-
An experiment was conducted during Kharif season of 2017-2018 at the Central Research Farm of Sam Higginbottom University of Agriculture Technology and Sciences, to evaluate the efficacy of bio-agents and botanical extracts against anthracnose (Colletotrichum lindemuthianum) of black gram (Vigna mungo L.) both in vitro and in vivo. In vitro studies showed significant difference in the inhibition per cent of mycelial growth of the pathogen among all the treatments.

Anthracnose causes the healthy green fruits and red ripe fruits lose 31% and 46% ascorbic acid after 14 days of pathogenesis (Ramesh, 2007) and 25% loss of capsaicin content (Prasad et al., 2000). The above reasons prompted the present study to test the efficacy of botanicals in vitro.

The toxicants (fungicide and botanicals) showing maximum efficacy against the pathogen and minimum efficacy against milky mushroom (Calocybe indica) mycelia as per results of in vitro studies were further evaluated against T. harzianum under in vivo condition in mushroom house. Among fungicides only Bavistin (@150 ppm) and out of three botanicals only Nimbicidin (@4 per cent) were selected for management of the green mould disease in milky mushroom cultivation in bags.

Brinjal is an important vegetables crop grown in India. The leaf mold is an important disease causing yield loss in Manipur region. Among the plant extracts studied garlic at both concentrations (3 and 6%) showed maximum growth inhibition, whereas among the fungicides propiconazole and hexaconazole showed the maximum efficiency in inhibition of growth over the control. The sporulation was completely inhibited in all the treatments studied.

A study on management of Alternaria leaf blight of tomato was carried out in year 2015-2016. Under in vitro evaluation of the botanicals drake (Melia azedarach) has highest efficacy of 63.52 per cent inhibition of the average mycelial growth of the Alternaria solani. However the least effective botanical was Urtica dioica with 36.30 per cent of mycelial inhibition.

Under this study, botanicals, plant volatiles, organic acids, organic salts and essential oils were used against E. carotovora subsp. carotovora under in vitro. Based on antibacterial efficacy, curative application was formulated against decay in carrot by dipping under laboratory conditions. Out of these all treatments, EC formulated consortia (cinnamon + lemongrass + thyme) oils at 0.1% given the better results against disease reduction (98.0%), weight loss (3.0%), and preserve the edible nature.

In vitro studies, aqueous extract of leaves of plants namely Karu (Roylea elegans), Artemisia (Artemisia roxburghiana), Neem (Azadirachta indica), Bana (Vitex negundo), Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) and seed of Darek (Melia azedarach) were found effective in inhibiting the growth of the B. dothidea causing white rot in apple. These botanicals were mixed together and formulations were made in water (Botanical Formulations 1) and Cow urine (Botanical Formulations 2) on weight and volume basis.

Early blight is potentially destructive disease in tomato occurring on the oldest leaves as small, brownish which are due to foliar blight disease and it was caused by a foliar fungal pathogen Alternaria solani. The disease causes considerable yield as well as post-harvest losses. A. solani produced blackish, fluffy mycelium with septate, beaked conidia on PDA Eight plant extracts and four biocontrol agents were evaluated following poison food technique and dual culture.

Among the diseases of safflower; dry root rot disease caused by Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi.) Goid is one of the most destructive and wide spread disease of Safflower (Carthamous tinctorius L.) causing accountable losses of about 25-60 per cent. Eleven Botanicals evaluated in vitro were found fungistatic/antifungal against M. phaseolina. Amongs these A. sativum followed by A. cepa and V. negundo caused significantly highest mean mycelial inhibition 83.57, 72.09 and 65.85 per cent respectively.

Pomegranate (Punica granatum L) is one of the important fruit crops grown in India. Leaf spot of pomegranate caused by Alternaria alternata (Fr.) Keissler has becoming a major limiting factor in cultivation of pomegranate in some regions of India. The present investigation was carried out to test the efficacy of bio-agents and botanicals in vitro. All the seven fungal and two bacterial antagonists tested, exhibited significant mycelial growth inhibition of A. alternata. However, T. viride recorded significantly highest mycelial growth inhibition (86.

For the management of different mycoflora Effect of nine botanicals were evaluated agents Alternaria alternate, Aspergillus flavus, Aspergillus niger in vitro condition. Effect of nine botanicals viz. A. indica, O. sanctum, A. sativum, A. cepa, E. globules, L. camara, M. citrifolia, V. negundo and B. spectabilis were found antifungal to A. alternata, A. flavus and A. niger.

Castor (Ricinus communis L.) experienced serious declines in yield caused by wilt pathogen Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. ricini. To control the wilt pathogen, commonly fungicides are used, which cause undesirable toxic effect on the environment. To minimize the pollution impact, there is an urgent need to develop alternative ecofriendly strategies. Therefore, to fill these knowledge gaps and to investigate potential botanical's efficacy on the wilt pathogen F. oxysporum f.sp. ricini, an in vitro bioassay was conducted. Twentysix botanicals were extracted at two different concentrations viz.

The present study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of aqueous extract and dry extracts of 12 different plant species against C. gloeosporioides the causal agent of mango anthracnose under natural disease epidemics. Significant difference was observed among the extracts in their effect on suppressing the mycelial growth of the pathogen under in vitro conditions. None of the extracts were able to completely prevent the development of the pathogen. However, most of the extracts significantly reduced disease development over the control. Among the fresh plant extracts, at 7.
