A gas mixture representing oxy-fuel combustion conditions was employed in a thermogravimetric analyser to determine the effect of water vapor and SO2 concentration on limestone sulfation kinetics over the temperature range of 800 to 920°C. Here, experiments used small samples of particles (4 mg), with small particle sizes (dp < 38 µm) and large gas flow rates (120 mL/min@ NTP) in order to minimize mass transfer interferences. The gas mixture contained 5000 ppmv SO2, 2% O2, and the H2O content was changed from 0% to 25% with the balance CO2.

Marine fisheries of India has been witnessed with substantial increase of fishing effort and fishing efficiency during the last five decades which resulted in overexploitation of fish stocks together with the increase of fossil fuel burning and CO2 emission into the atmosphere. The present study covered three important fishing harbours of Kerala to reveal an estimation of CO2 footprint (considering the emission of CO2 only during the fishing operation) by the mechanised fishing trawlers which showed a considerable higher value than the previous studies.

Synthesis of NiSn alloy nanoparticle-incorporated carbon nanofibers was performed by calcining electrospun mats composed of nickel acetate, tin chloride and poly(vinyl alcohol) under vacuum. The electrochemical measurements indicated that utilization of tin as a co-catalyst could strongly enhance the electrocatalytic activity if its content and calcination temperature were optimized.

Since the turbine exhaust gas is essentially preheated combustion air, the supplementary-fired HRSG fuel consumption is less than that required for a power boiler providing the same incremental increase in steam generation. Characteristically, the incremental steam production from supplementary firing above that of an unfired HRSG will be achieved at 100% efficiency, based on the lower heat value of the fuel fired. The amount of incremental fuel will be about 10% to 20% less than for a natural-gas-fired power boiler providing the same incremental increase in steam produced.

In 2002, Shapouri et al. surveyed energy values and reported that fuel ethanol from corn produced about 34 percent more energy than it took to produce it. That figure was based on a weighted average of a 37-percent increase in energy from ethanol produced in dry mills and a 30-percent increase from wet mills. This value was revised in 2004 by updating energy estimates for corn production and yield, improving estimates of energy required to produce nitrogen fertilizer and energy estimates for seed corn, and using better methodologies for allocating energy for producing coprod- ucts.
